Year 9 & 10

There’s a lot happening this term and I’m excited to share some important reminders and some updates of our Middle School adventures!

Year 10 Humanities Excursion to Williamstown

I had the pleasure of joining our Year 10 Humanities students on their excursion to Williamstown last week. It was a wonderful day filled with hands-on learning, as students explored the diversity of the local environment while completing their humanities assessment. Students had the opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world environments. Watching students engage with their surroundings and make connections with what they’ve learned in class was a highlight. Thank you to all students for their positive participation and respectful conduct throughout the day.

Year 9 Advance Camp

We were thrilled to wave off our first group of Advance students for their camp last week. The second Advance class will undertake their excursion on Wednesday.  Advance is a year-long elective where students work towards completing the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The award and the program are designed to build resilience, teamwork, and leadership skills while fostering a sense of independence among our Year 9 students. The camp is always a highlight, and students can look forward to various outdoor activities and team challenges. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to connect with their peers in a different environment. I look forward to hearing all about their adventures and the camp video!

Year 9 Job Jump Careers Experience

Last week, Year 9 students had a ‘job jump’ experience. This provided an opportunity for students to hear from those in industry in a range of professions. This is just one of the activities our year 9 students have experienced this year as we have provided an introduction to career pathways and explored the personal interests and aptitudes of students and how these can link to future careers. We hope that this activity gave students a taste of potential career paths and helped them understand the skills and subjects that may align with their future aspirations. We encourage families to talk with their children about their experiences and any interests they may spark. It’s an important first step toward guiding our students in thinking about their potential work experience placements in 2025.

Lost Student ID Card?

As a reminder, students are required to carry their ID cards with them during the school day. These cards are essential for accessing certain facilities, including some toilet areas and library resources. If your child has misplaced their ID card, please have them visit the General Office to arrange a replacement as soon as possible. It’s a simple way to ensure that they have easy access to everything they need at school.

Uniform Expectations

With exams and end-of-year events on the horizon, I’d like to remind students and families of our uniform expectations. It’s essential that students continue to uphold our college’s uniform standards throughout the exam period and until the end of the school year. Wearing the correct uniform helps maintain a positive and cohesive learning environment. We appreciate the continued effort to meet these standards every day.

Warm regards,

Jules Ryan
