 Referendum Voting

This week 7F have been learning about the referendum process as part of their civics and citizenship unit in humanities. They conducted their own referendum on the topic: “The Australian citizenship test should be available to complete in different languages – you should not need to speak English to achieve citizenship”.

To complete this task, they formed “yes” and “no” parliament committees to research arguments for each case, calculated how many students should represent each Australian state based on current population spread and analysed the voting results to determine if double majority was achieved. They were even lucky enough to use the official voting booths to complete their vote in our school hall
