Green World Expo

Green World, Year 5/6 Student Expo
Â
đ 5/6 Students Build Their Own Countries in the Sustainable World Expo!
This term, our incredible Year 5/6 students took on a unique and creative challenge: to design and develop their very own countries from the ground up!Â
Â
As part of the Sustainable World Expo, students explored nation-building, resource management, climate, culture, identity, and sustainability.
Â
From crafting national flags and anthems to budgeting for education, tourism, and energy, no detail was too small.Â
Â
The students brought their ideas to life through 3D-printed totems, handmade dioramas, cultural dishes, and even invented sports!Â
Â
Displaying their hard work through holding an exciting whole-school expo, where students proudly presented their nations to the wider school community, including parents and caregivers.Â
Â
Harrison's Highlights
Harrison loved the chance to share his learning with others:
Â
âMy favourite part was talking to the parents and answering questions. We even made a diorama of our natural disaster plan, showing tsunamis, earthquakes, and landslides!â
Â
His group went above and beyond, displaying cozy cold-climate clothing (think puffer jackets!), cut-out animals like foxes, owls, and deer, and fun touches like LEGO cars and animals.
Â
âMaking the diorama was my favourite, it was fun gluing the sand! The younger students especially loved our displays.â
Â
Emily's Experience
Emilyâs group kicked off their project in the Design Lab, where they 3D-printed beautiful totems, including a butterfly and a waterfall, all symbols of freedom and nature in their country.
Â
âOur totem was surrounded by picnic areas and a strong sense of community.â
Â
Her team showcased dishes like fettuccine pasta and created a cultural dance, traditional clothing, and even a national video featuring their familiesâ countries of origin.
Â
âOne of my favourite moments was sharing our work with the Foundation students and handing out flags, it was so fun seeing how excited they were!â
Â
Emily also loved the budgeting challenge, where they had to plan spending in areas like mining, tourism, and the arts.
Â
Taylor's Take
Taylor and her team created the country Kouda, and designed totems representing strength and courage, a wolf, fire, and a brave girl, all 3D-printed in their design lab.
Â
Their sporty side showed too, with the invention of "Glacier Ball", a unique game combining basketball and hockey!
Â
âMy favourite part was showing our art to the parents and other classes.â
Â
They also shared warm jackets for their cold-climate country, displayed national food, and proudly created their self-written anthem.
Â
âA great memory for me was making our models and working together, everyone in my group was so supportive and on task.â
Â
A huge well done to our 5/6 students!Â
We are proud of your creativity, confidence, and collaboration!
Thank you and congratulations to all involved!
