A note from Mr Jackson

Planning Ahead for 2026 REMINDER

As we begin to turn our attention towards 2026, we are starting the early stages of planning for our teaching team, education support staff, and classroom structures. While it may seem far away, thoughtful preparation now ensures we are well-positioned to meet the needs of all our students and families in the years ahead.

We know that families move for a variety of reasons - whether due to work, lifestyle changes, or schooling choices. If your family is considering a move or change of school before 2026, we would greatly appreciate a conversation. Even an early indication, though not final, will help us in our planning and ensure a smooth transition for your child if needed.

Please don’t hesitate to send me an email or give me a call. I’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you and better understand your family’s plans.

5/6 Students Packing their Bags

Wednesday 27 August to Friday 29 August

Next week, students and staff are very excited to be heading to the 5/6 Alexandra Adventure Resort for three days of adventure. Located 2 hours from Melbourne CBD and 7kms from Alexandra township, the resort is an adventure-based campsite on a stunning property, overlooking a lake and surrounded by valley views and farmland. A special thanks to staff and volunteers who will support students during this quintessential primary school experience. Everyone is looking forward to the challenges ahead even though there may be a few nerves!

The absence of 5/6 Students and staff will mean that timetables will be adjusted across the school.

Successful Grant Recipients

As mentioned last week, we are excited to be the recipients of two grants from the North East Community Fund. Last year we benefited with support to resurface the Basketball Court, contributing to an upgrade of the yard that would otherwise be unachievable.

More recently we have been successful in receiving funds to support the production of a mural that will celebrate learning at Rosanna Primary over the last 85 years. It will be created at the School Fair and mounted above the newly installed seating on the basketball court.

Rosanna Primary was also the recipient of a grant to establish a creative natural play space on ‘the oval’. This project will engage students in sharing in the design of a space to dig, create and explore in a safe and contained space. It will enhance the ongoing upgrades over the last few years that has included the installation of football posts and basketball ring, the addition of a tee ball diamond and popular GaGa pit. We hope to have a more accessible and safe entry with the addition of ramps from street level on Bellevue Ave and the replacement of the current stairs that is scheduled for much later in the school year and early 2026.

Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) Expression of Interest and Survey

Thursday 28 August

School Council are in the process of receiving Expressions of Interest from potential OSHC providers for 2026/2027. The before and after school care program includes support for families during the vacations and on curriculum days when a normal school program does not run. As part of the process, a survey of our community has been developed to gauge parent experiences with the provision of these services. Parents who are involved and those who are not involved in the service are invited to complete the survey below. The survey is open until Friday 29 August.

Annual Parent/ Caregiver/ Guardian Opinion Survey (Open Now)

Our annual survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement.

Your opinions are important to us and will contribute to identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. The department will use the results from the survey for research purposes and to improve outcomes for students.

The survey will be conducted online and only takes 20 minutes to complete. It can be completed on any internet enabled device (desktop computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone) and is compatible with most browsers.

The survey is available in English and 10 other languages: Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. If you require assistance in another language, resources may be available for you. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school if you require assistance in another language.

Please find the hyperlink and login information on the Compass Portal.

PLEASE NOTE: Only one parent / caregiver / guardian from your household is invited to complete the survey on behalf of the student’s family. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school if your child’s family lives in two separate households, so both households can have the opportunity to provide their feedback. To protect your responses, please DO NOT share the survey link and PIN with others, or on a public website, forum or similar.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025.
