Book Week Dress-Up and Parade
Students went above and beyond with their dress-ups and we were even lucky enough to have a few parents amaze us by joining in the fun with costumes of their own. The atmosphere was full of excitement as each class paraded proudly around the assembly area, showing off their creativity and love for books. It was wonderful to see such a wide variety of characters. A big thank you to families for the effort and support that made the day so special. We can’t forget our teachers. They put just as much effort into their costumes as the students, and it certainly showed. A big congratulations to the four crayons, who took out the prize for Best Dressed Teachers for 2025!
Speaking about reading
With this week being Book Week, it’s a timely reminder about the importance of learning at home. At Albion North, we encourage all students to build strong habits that support their learning beyond the classroom. Across the school, we ask that students aim to:
- Spend 20–30 minutes each day reading a book (please make this off in their reading logs)
- Spend 20–30 minutes each week on Mathletics
- Spend 20–30 minutes each week on Reading Eggs
If your child has misplaced their Mathletics or Reading Eggs password, please speak to their class teacher, who can provide a copy. If your child has lost their reading log or requires a new one, their class teacher will also be able to help.
This home learning is important because it consolidates what we are teaching in the classroom, gives students extra practice, and helps build confidence and independence. These small, regular routines make a big difference in helping students grow as learners.
SWPBS- Champion Chips!
We’ve had a big week launching our Champion Chips, and it has been wonderful to see students at Albion North embracing them. Already, students are proudly demonstrating the expected behaviours through the values of respect, responsibility and teamwork. Lots of cards have been given out so far and I am sure students are going home to talk about it to their families.
Let’s hear from a few of our students about what they received their Champion Chips for…
Holly "I got my Champion Chip for showing respect for our outdoor space and putting rubbish in the bin"
Hasan "I got my Champion Chip for being responsible in the classroom and being reading and organised for learning because I handed out the reading books without being asked by the teacher
- Mary-Jane "I got my Champion Chip for team work by offering support in a helpful way and helping a class mate pick up their books.
These are just a few amazing examples, and I heard so many more throughout the week. I am extremely proud of our students and the way they are showing these behaviours.
As you would have seen yesterday, our very first Champion Chip Catalogue has been sent home and we are excited to share that our Champion Chip Shop is now up and running.
This week, students will have the opportunity to visit the shop to see it all set up and explore what they can save their tokens for.
The shop will be open for 15 minutes at recess on the following days:
- Wednesday – Year 3/4
- Thursday – Year 1/2
- Friday – Prep and Year 5/6
