SoGS Girls Soccer – Northern Metro Regional Finals

The School of the Good Shepherd Girls Soccer Team proudly represented our school and region (after securing the Woodlands Championship two weeks ago) at the Northern Metro Regional Finals.

In the pool stage, the girls showed incredible determination and teamwork, defeating Pascoe Vale South PS 2–0 and edging out Eltham North Primary 1–0 to progress to the Grand Final.

The final was a tense and hard-fought battle against St Francis Primary. Despite a spirited performance and relentless effort, our girls narrowly went down 1–0, finishing as runners-up in the NMR Region.

Statistically, it has been a brilliant season. Across all competitions, the team scored over 25 goals while conceding only 3 goals — a true credit to their dedication, commitment, and defensive strength.

A special thank you to the parents who volunteered to officiate on the lines and those who came to cheer on the team — your support is always appreciated.

The team was brilliantly led by Captain Allegra V, with strong support from Taylah and Emilia. Congratulations also to Elissa, Georgi, Audrey, Rozuh, Isabella, Quinn, Paulette, Scarlett, and to Melania, who was unfortunately unavailable for the finals but remained an important part of the squad throughout the season.

Well done, girls — what an outstanding achievement and an unforgettable season!

Yours in Sport

School of the Good Shepherd – AFL Divisional Finals Report

Thursday 24th July | Woodlands Division Finals – Dallas Brooks Primary School

After being crowned Broadmeadows District Champions, the School of the Good Shepherd AFL Open Team advanced to the Woodlands Divisional Finals held at Dallas Brooks Primary School. The day brought together the strongest teams from across the Woodlands District, including Dallas Brooks PS, Diggers Rest PS, Mickleham PS, St Carlo’s, and Oscar Romero PS.

Game 1 – vs Oscar Romero PS Nerves were high as the boys took to the field for their opening match against Oscar Romero. A somewhat shaky start saw the team settle into their rhythm by halftime, leading by 21 points. The second half proved more balanced, but SoGS held their ground to secure a 20-point victory and a strong start to the tournament.

Game 2 – vs Diggers Rest PS The second match was always going to be a challenge, facing the tournament favourites, Diggers Rest PS. With a fast midfield and a potent forward line, Diggers Rest posed a real test. However, the SoGS boys followed Coach Nick’s instructions to the letter and stunned the opposition with a 13-point halftime lead. Unfortunately, the second half saw Diggers Rest surge back, scoring five goals to one and handing our boys their first defeat of the day – a hard-fought 14-point loss.

Semi Final – vs Mickleham PS The boys bounced back brilliantly in the semi-final against Mickleham PS. Showing grit, unity, and hunger, the team delivered a fantastic performance to run out 26-point winners and book their spot in the Grand Final.

Grand Final – vs Diggers Rest PS A rematch against Diggers Rest loomed large. The Grand Final was a classic – a fierce and physical contest under the afternoon sun. Both teams showed incredible determination, with missed opportunities keeping the game tight. At halftime, SoGS led by a narrow 3 points and looked to finish strong. In the end, it was Diggers Rest who edged ahead, claiming the win by just 7 points in a hard-fought battle.

While the result didn’t go our way, the boys from Good Shepherd can hold their heads high. Their courage, teamwork, and resilience were on full display, and they represented the school with pride.

A big thank you to Coach Nick Isgro for his leadership, guidance, and support throughout the day. Thank you also to the parents and families who came to cheer on the team – your support means the world.  We hope to go one better next year!

Go SoGS!

 Wellbeing

Friendships are an important part of childhood and growing up. They build a child’s sense of belonging and significance in their world, make a child feel cared for and cared about, and in turn teach them how to care for others. Healthy friendships play a key role in a child’s emotional growth and their development of important life skills.

Friendships take time...

For some children, it takes longer to connect with like-minded peers. We hope that the information in the link below will give you an understanding of where your child is and how friendships are formed.
