NHS Volleyball – Schools Cup

Our Year 7, 9, 10 and 11 Volleyball teams had the opportunity to represent the school at the Schools Cup, a three-day tournament competing against schools from all parts of Victoria. We had a great amount of success, having 4 brand new teams compete for the first time.

We had such a fun few weeks, with our students showing amazing team spirit all

tournament. The support they gave each other was acknowledged by many other schools.

Our Yr 7 Boys got some great wins throughout the week and showed incredible improvement throughout the 3 days.

Our Yr 7 Girls A team were very strong all tournament, winning crucial games all the way through. They will be very competitive for a medal at our next tournament! The Yr 7 Girls B team also showed great signs, improving with every game and managing to get a few great wins along the way.

The Yr 9 Girls A team were strong all week, with the team finishing first in their pool! They

won their way to the final, where they were narrowly beaten by Santa Maria College. Their efforts were great, and it will be very exciting to see how they fair at the next tournament. The Yr 9 Girls B team were fantastic to watch too, playing in their first competition and getting some great wins! It was a great chance for them to continue working on their skills and look towards the one-day tournament later this term.

The Yr 9 Boys had a challenging week, with many of the players playing in the age group

above them. Despite this, they were able to record some fantastic wins, building up their confidence for their next tournament.

Our Yr 10 Girls were faced with the challenge of only having 6 players for the tournament. With no subs on the bench, the team showed great resilience and skill to keep getting wins. They won a silver medal, an incredible achievement in a strong pool of teams!

The Yr 11 Girls were fantastic all week, playing against strong teams and getting great results. Their efforts earned them a chance to play for gold, however we unfortunately couldn’t get the win this time. A well-deserved silver medal.

Lastly, the Yr 11 Boys were playing in a very strong division and proved that they are a very strong team to play against. They had plenty of wins throughout the week, earning their place in the gold medal match. In what was an amazingly close game, we came up just short against a very strong Ringwood team.
