Make and take Club - Every Tuesday lunch time in the library

The library celebrated CBCA Book Week last week by making accordion books during Make and Take Craft Club.

There were some wonderful Australian books shortlisted this year in the Older Readers category including:

  • A Wreck of Seabirds by Karleah Olson
  • Birdy by Sharon Kernot
  • Comes the Night by Isobelle Carmody
  • I’m Not Really Here by Gary Lonesborough
  • Into the Mouth of the Wolf by Erin Gough
  • The Skin I’m In by Steph Tisdell

We have copies of all the shortlisted books, so please come to the library and borrow them if you’re interested.

If you would like more information about CBCA Book Week, you can visit their website https://cbca.org.au/childrens-book-week/

Last week we also celebrated Languages Week.

There were many exciting events throughout the school, and the library was happy to be selected as the venue for the AUSLAN workshop and a languages trivia event. Both students and staff had a lot of fun, and the library team is looking forward to next years celebrations.

Join KOGO Club this winter

KOGO Club is held each Monday lunchtime in the library. Come and learn to knit and create items for charity. All materials provided.

We are pleased to show off our first two finished items - beanies created by staff member Carolyn Richards.

Come along and join us and learn a relaxing hobby and contribute to a community project.

KOGO (Knit One, Give One) Club is on Monday lunchtimes in the library.

Crocheters also welcome. All materials supplied. All welcome!

KOGO Club would like to acknowledge The Australian Yarn Company for their generous donation of yarn and patterns.

The Australian Yarn Company has been Australia and New Zealand's Premier Yarn Wholesaler for over 80 years.

They wrote:

“We at the Australian Yarn Company love to inspire the next generation of knitters, especially  when giving them the opportunity to do a good deed.”

Library E-Book & Audio Book Collection

Many people have discovered the joy of e-reading. What better time than now to embrace a new way of accessing books? Accessing our e-book collection is a fantastic way to meet your need to read. We have thousands of titles waiting for you!

Here are several benefits of e-reading that apply now, and always.

1. Save a trip to the library

There’s no doubt that the library is a wonderful place to visit, but you won’t have to go very far to borrow e-books. Once your e-book is available, you can download it at any hour of the day, any day of the year, all from the comfort of your own home.

2. Easy returns

If you often forget to return your books once you are done with them, e-books will make your life easier by automatically returning themselves at the end of your loan period.

3. Read anytime, anywhere

Read on the go and take your whole library with you! Whether it's on the bus, train, airplane, or even just to stand in line at the grocery store.

4. One device, many books

If you’re not sure which book to pack, e-books eliminate the need to choose one book over another. Carry around many books on your mobile device, tablet, e-reader, or laptop.

5. A dictionary at your fingertips

With many e-books, you can use the built-in dictionary feature to define an unfamiliar word. On most devices, you can do this by pressing and holding the word you'd like to look up.

6. Search in seconds

With many e-books, you can search through an entire book in seconds. Easily pinpoint information using the search function, instead of turning page after page to find what you’re looking for.

7. Customize how you read

Adjust the text size to be as small or as large as you’d like. You’ll also have options to adjust other settings, such as margins, line spacing, font style, brightness, and much more.

8. Improve your reading ability

Our e-book platform has decodable reading materials and structured literacy tools that aid comprehension, vocabulary and fluency.

 8. Environmental impact

E-books eliminate the need for paper, reducing deforestation and the environmental impact of printing. An e-book has a lower carbon footprint than a physical book.
