This Week At OOPS

Many of our students enjoyed a yummy cheese toastie for lunch on Tuesday when the Cheer Toastie Truck paid us a visit.

Thanks to our wonderful parent helpers Elise, Lisa, Pierre, Amanda and Sissi for making the toasties, and to some speedy students for delivering them all to the classes.

The toastie day raised over $800 for our school.

This week, Year 2 students have been developing their understanding of fractions through hands-on activities using colourful paper shapes. Each shape was folded into equal parts and labelled with the corresponding fraction, such as halves, quarters, eighths, and even sixteenths.

This activity helped them to visualise how a whole can be split into equal parts, make connections between different fractions, and build confidence in their mathematical thinking. Next week, they'll head into the kitchen to create some tasty fruit salad fractions!

Our Year 3 and 4 students left for their respective camps yesterday.  It sounds like they are having an amazing time and the weather is perfect.  We will share more photos in next week's newsletter, but here are a few we have received so far.

This week, Ginger took her role as writing inspector very seriously, strolling from student to student during an outside activity to check each child's work. The task was to identify punctuation in two different paragraphs (persuasive and informative). The first piece argued that all schools should have a therapy dog, and the informative piece explained Labradoodles’ diet. Ginger seemed quite invested in the first piece, especially when she spotted her own importance being championed in persuasive detail. However, her enthusiasm (and tail) dropped when she reached the final sentence in the informative example about Labradoodles needing portion control in their diet!
