Library News

From Alice, Librarian

Once again we have enjoyed a busy and fun-filled Book Week across both campuses at NMPS. The celebrations kicked off with our Book an adventure reading passport competition, where students read 4 books from across the world and 5 lucky winners won a $20 Readings book shop voucher.

Across the start of Term 3, students explored the shortlisted books with book talks, readings and craft activities.

In week 4, The Grade 3/4s were lucky to meet Ben Wood, illustrator of the wildly popular Real Pigeons books, who taught them how to draw their own pigeons.

The Grade 5/6s also has an author visit, with designer, author and massive thinker Steve Mushin who encouraged them to dream big and imagine an ULTRAWILD world, where humans, nature and technology exist in harmony.

In week 6, the P-2s will be watching a theatre production with Meerkat productions based on the shortlisted book The Garden of Broken Things

But it was Week 5, Book Week itself that was the main event. On the Monday morning students arrived to find both campus libraries transformed into Wonderland, where Alice had her adventures! Each year level also decorated their spaces around the theme Book an Adventure- with the Grade 1 and Grade 4 spaces winning best decorated.

Between Monday and Wednesday all students had the opportunity to collect a free book from Alice, and on Thursday we had finally made it to Dress up day!

It seemed like Alice and the leadership team had all found themselves transported to Wonderland, we had pirates and princesses, ogres and donkeys, penguins and zebras all over the school!

Special mention to our Prep team and their various Pig the Pug renditions- excellent prop work, Prep teachers!

Thank you to all- staff, students and families who made 2025 Book Week such a special and fun celebration of reading and books
