Social Work Student - Jenna Nowak

Hi my name is Jenna Nowak, I am a social work student currently completing my placement as part of my Master of Social Work. I previously completed a Bachelor of Psychological Science and Criminology.

I am currently developing my skills and knowledge through study and hands-on placement experience. In my role, I support individuals and families by building rapport, actively listening, and trying to understand their unique situation and needs. I work under supervision, which allows me to learn while ensuring that my practice remains safe, ethical and aligned with professional standards.

I assist with gathering information for assessments, connecting clients to relevant services, and contributing to support plans where appropriate. A big part of my role is reflecting on my practice and thinking about how I communicate, how my values may influence my work, and how I can continue to improve.

I am also learning to recognise the border social and systemic factors that impact people’s lives, including inequality and access to resources. This experience is helping me build confidence, develop my professional identity, and work towards becoming a competent and ethical social worker.
