AU: Retail hubs driving housing transformation

Major retail precincts are increasingly becoming future housing targets as governments and developers search for well-located infill development opportunities across Melbourne.
A former Bunnings warehouse site in Preston, now occupied by Panda Mart, is reportedly being assessed under the Victorian Government’s ‘Unlocking Strategic Sites’ programme, which aims to deliver more housing within established suburbs.
For First National Real Estate Neilson Partners (Narre Warren, Vic) FN Commercial salesperson Shannon Hynd, the appeal of these locations is simple – people follow major retail and infrastructure hubs.
‘It really comes down to attraction and pull,’ Mr Hynd said. ‘When you’ve got something like Fountain Gate, it brings huge numbers of people into the area every single day, and that creates a ripple effect across everything around it.’
Mr Hynd said proximity to major shopping centres is increasingly influencing both land values and development decisions.
‘Westfield brings the people, and the surrounding real estate benefits off the back of that,’ he said.

AU: SMS message marketing changes
👓 1 minute read
If you send branded text messages with your business name at the top - as opposed to text messages from a salesperson - from 1 July 2026 you must be registered for a Sender ID Number and display it at the top of your text message. The intention of this change is to protect Australians from text message scams.
What to do:
Whatever technology you may send messages from, to get registered you need to contact your Telco or message provider before 1 July. If you don’t, your text messages may be labelled as ‘Unverified’ and will be grouped together with other ‘Unverified’ messages, including scam messages, on mobile phones.
There are different processes depending on if you have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or not.
Find out how to register a sender ID if:
