Mother's Day at Sacred Heart

On Friday, we hosted a truly beautiful morning celebrating the remarkable mothers, grandmothers, and special friends in our community. The celebration began with a special assembly held in honour of our guests. We shared a slideshow where students recorded heartfelt messages about what they love most about their Mums. From "she gives the best hugs" to "she makes the best spag bol and curried sausages," it was very moving.

Following the assembly, the atmosphere shifted to one of relaxation and play. Our classrooms became "pamper zones" where students took the lead in spoiling their guests.

To conclude our celebration, everyone gathered for a delicious shared High Tea. Over tea, coffee, and an array of treats, our community had the chance to mingle and reflect on a wonderful morning.

"To the world, you are a mother; but to your family, you are the world."

We would like to extend a massive thank you to all our special guests for joining us. Seeing the joy on our students' faces as they spent this time with you was a wonderful reminder of why these events are so important. We hope you felt as pampered and appreciated as you deserve!

The Sacred Heart Choir has been busy learning lead by Mrs Franklin. Students are still working hard to learn their scales and practising their first song, “We Will Rock You” by Queen. Choir will continue to meet every Tuesday at lunch. We can’t wait to hear all the wonderful songs they learn!

Scholastic Book Fair

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the Bookfair. Not only did our students walk away with some fantastic new books to dive into, but the commission earned from the Bookfair go directly back into providing new resources for our school.

Happy reading to all of our Sacred Heart families!

Thank You!

  • Read More in May Challenge

Our students have been invited to participate in the "Read More in May" challenge! Participation calendars were sent home 2 weeks ago and we were very pleased to see some students were already marking off some tiles.

To help us support their progress, please keep these sheets in their Library bags so we can check in to see how they are tracking. We will be cheering them on and celebrating their reading milestones throughout the month!

Premier’s Reading Challenge

The NSW Premier's Reading Challenge (PRC) is a statewide annual initiative aimed at fostering a love of reading in all students. Students complete the PRC by reading a range of books. Some books must be from the PRC booklist, while others can be personal choice books. In the PRC, K-2 students read 30 books and Years 3-6 read 20 books. Reading completed in class may also count towards the challenge. Parents and carers who would like to keep a record of reading completed at home can use a physical reading log. Please contact Mrs Franklin if you have any questions.

Library

Remember, library borrowing day is every Wednesday. Please bring your library bag and return your books each week, or re-borrow them if you need more time to read.
