Assistant Principal's

Report

It’s hard to believe we are almost at the halfway point of the term already. The weeks have flown by, and with the colder weather settling in, it certainly feels like winter is on its way. A reminder to please ensure students are bringing warm clothing to school and that all items are clearly labelled. Despite the chilly mornings, our classrooms continue to be full of energy, learning and excitement each day.

5/6 Camp

Our Year 5 and 6 students headed off to Camp Jungai in Rubicon today and will return on Wednesday after what is sure to be a memorable few days away. Set in the beautiful Rubicon Valley on Taungurung Country, Camp Jungai combines outdoor adventure experiences with a strong Indigenous cultural focus, giving students opportunities to learn about Aboriginal culture, storytelling, bush tucker and the history of the land, alongside activities that build teamwork, resilience and independence. We wish all of our students, staff and volunteers a fantastic camp experience and look forward to hearing all about their adventures on their return.

Thank you!

A big thank you to our parent helpers who came along to the Working Bee yesterday. The team worked incredibly hard, and our grounds are looking fantastic as a result. We are incredibly appreciative of the time and effort given by everyone who attended. An extra special thank you to Sam M for leading and organising the day.

Congratulations, Michael!

At last week’s Australian Library and Information Association National Conference, FNPS’s own Michael B was awarded the Distinguished Library Technician Award. We are incredibly proud of this outstanding achievement and grateful for the dedication, passion and hard work Michael puts into creating such a special library space for our students to explore, enjoy and develop a love of literature. Well done, Michael!!!

Gates

The central gates on Fergie Street (the old entrance to the school) will now be open each morning. This change has been made to help reduce the number of bikes entering through the large gates while cars are moving through the area. Students who choose to enter via the Fergie Street gates are welcome to lock their bikes up on the block before heading into school.

Industrial Action

On Friday, the AEU endorsed an in-principle agreement, therefore actioning the suspension of the industrial bans. As a result, school on Wednesday, May 20th, will run as per usual. Thank you for your support over this time; it has been greatly appreciated by all our education staff.

Have a great week.

Joe
