Inclusive Studies

New for this year, Inclusive Studies, has quickly become a vibrant and meaningful part of learning in our classrooms. Through this subject, students explore diverse cultures, countries, and traditions from around the world, developing a deeper understanding of perspectives beyond their own. Inclusive Studies connects beautifully with the Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) framework by strengthening our commitment to international-mindedness and the learner profile.

Learning comes alive through hands-on, engaging activities — from exploring traditional art forms and music to investigating global celebrations, languages, and cultural practices. These interactive experiences not only build knowledge but also nurture empathy, curiosity, and respect for others. As students inquire into similarities and differences across communities, they grow as open-minded, caring, and reflective global citizens. We are proud to see them building the understanding and compassion that will help them thrive in an interconnected world.

Students have enjoyed beginning their learning journey by sharing their own cultures, traditions, and family celebrations, building a strong sense of identity and belonging within the classroom. From there, they expanded their global understanding by exploring China, India, and Japan, learning about each country’s unique customs, traditions, and ways of life. This included discovering the significance of celebrations such as Lunar New Year, Holi, and the Cherry Blossom Festival. As the term unfolds, students will continue to build on their learning by exploring the rich cultures and traditions of Thailand, Mexico, and Pakistan. They will also have the opportunity to inquire into a country and culture of their own choice, fostering curiosity, independence, and a deeper appreciation of the diverse world around them—exciting times ahead!
