Principal's Message
Mr Forrest

At Wedderburn P-12 College we love celebrating students who consistently demonstrate our College values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. Â Yesterday I was able to hostÂ
A number of students in Prep - Year 2 who were recently  selected to participate in a special SWPBS Reward Lunch – Taco Tuesday.Â
These students were chosen because they have shown:
The reward lunch is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate students who are making positive choices contributing to a strong school culture.
Mr Forrest along with the exceptional skills of Kylie in the College Cafe provided tacos, a drink, and a jelly.
Who will be selected for next week?

Our Year 9 students have taken part in an unforgettable three-day adventure camp to Mount Egbert returning to school today. It was an experience filled with challenge, resilience, teamwork and personal growth.
Students and staff embraced the outdoors by riding mountain bikes to and from the camp, working together, encouraging each other and stepping well outside their comfort zones. Throughout the camp, students were involved in self-catering, setting up camp, preparing meals and camping under the stars, creating a true adventure-style experience.
The camp provided an outstanding opportunity for students to strengthen friendships, build teamwork skills and develop independence. Whether it was supporting each other on difficult sections of the ride, helping prepare meals, or simply encouraging one another throughout the journey, students demonstrated resilience and a strong sense of community. Â On Tuesday the group worked extremely hard assisting the local Landcare group plant loads of native plants and tidy up the Wychitella Cemetery. Â The students were highly commended for all their efforts and rewarded with hot bush style cooked potatoes for lunch.Â
Â

A huge congratulations must go to our students for the way they approached the three day challenge with positivity and determination. We would also like to sincerely thank the dedicated staff who supported the program, rode alongside students, supervised the camp, organised equipment and helped create such a memorable experience. Their willingness to go above and beyond provided students with an incredible learning opportunity outside the classroom.
Experiences such as these continue to highlight the importance of outdoor education, connection and active learning at Wedderburn P-12 College. There truly has never been a better time to be involved at Wedderburn College.

School staff pay and conditions and continuing industrial action Term 2, 2026
Â
As parents and carers know, staff at our school who are members of the Australian Education Union (AEU) have been involved in long-running negotiations with the state government and the Department of Education for improved pay and conditions.
Despite an increased number of ongoing negotiations and the commencement of industrial action, including the statewide full day stop-work last term, there is still no fair offer on the table to address the key issues facing public school staff. Victoria’s public schools remain the lowest funded in the country, teachers are the lowest paid, with education support staff and school leaders underpaid as well. School staff also continue to face significant workload pressures.  Staffing shortages continue to be experienced in public schools across the state.Â
As part of the campaign, AEU members will be taking further industrial action, including half-day stop works on a rolling, region-by-region basis. This means each school will be affected once. We understand this can cause disruption for students and families.  Staff are taking this action because they care deeply about public education and want to see our schools properly funded, and to receive fair pay and conditions, all of which are critical to a prosperous future for Victoria’s public school students.
Â
These bans will commence at 6.00am on Monday 20 April 2026 and remains in place unless the AEU advises otherwise. Â The half day strike action has been paused across the state until Friday this week as progress has been made with negotiations. Â Â
