Principal's Message

Mrs Ameera Hassanein

Welcome Back to the 2025 School Year

It is wonderful to see how students have settled into positive and productive learning environments, including new students to BPS and our Prep students. Moving schools and starting Prep are significant milestones for the whole family, and we are incredibly proud of all our new students for their positivity, resilience, and independence. We warmly welcome you all to BPS.

The beginning of the school year offers a valuable opportunity for staff, students, and families to build positive relationships and get to know each other. This is a key focus across the school in the first few weeks, as it sets the foundation for learning, personal and social growth, and achievement.

I would like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome not only our new families to BPS but also the new staff members who have joined us this year. Mrs. Dabboucy, our literacy leader, is currently working closely with the F-2 team. Mrs. Bishop is our new Year 5/6 teacher, and Mrs. Hurst, a long-standing teacher at the school, has returned after some time away. To help you get to know them better, a full 2025 Staff Profile is available at the office, providing insights into the backgrounds and interests of our wonderful team.

Attendance

The new school start time this year is 8:35 AM. We are committed to providing our students with a great education, and the foundation for this starts with students attending school every day.

There is no safe number of days for missing school—each day a student misses puts them behind and impacts their educational outcomes.

School starts at 8:35 AM and finishes at 3:00 PM each day.

Parent Communication & Our Meet the Teacher Event

At BPS, we understand the importance of clear communication and are committed to keeping families informed and involved in their child’s learning journey. If you have any concerns or questions regarding your child’s academic progress or wellbeing, please feel free to reach out to their classroom teacher via Compass. For urgent matters, we recommend calling the school directly.

Our primary platform for whole-school communication is Compass. Important updates and notices will be sent through this portal, so please ensure you have access. If you need assistance with Compass access, kindly speak to our office staff who will be happy to help. Additionally, we recommend verifying that your email address and contact details are up to date in Compass.

In addition, we invite you to join us for our Meet the Teacher sessions this week if you haven't already booked, please do so as they conclude this Friday 14th of February. This event provides parents with the opportunity to meet their child’s teacher and explore the learning areas.

We look forward to working closely with our community to ensure all students have a positive and successful school year.

Enrolments Now Open for 2025

Enrolments for 2025 are still open. If your child is attending 4-year-old kindergarten this year and will be starting school next year, please note that enrolment at the school is required. This process does not happen automatically, so we kindly ask that you come to the office to complete the enrolment.

Melbourne Victory

We are excited to announce that our school has partnered with Melbourne Victory to offer a range of additional sports activities designed to keep students active, engaged, and motivated throughout the school year. This collaboration aims to provide exciting opportunities for all students to explore new sports, build teamwork skills, and foster a love for physical activity.

This initiative will be available to our Year 1–4 students, ensuring that they have access to engaging and inclusive sports programs. Meanwhile, our Year 5–6 students will be participating in interschool sports competitions, further encouraging teamwork and healthy competition.
