PARENT EVENING / PANEL DISCUSSION

NAVIGATING DIGITAL SAFETY: FOSTERING KINDNESS AND WELLBEING ONLINE

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are delighted to invite you to our upcoming Parent Evening/Panel Discussion, scheduled for Wednesday 31 July. The event will take place at the East Campus Gym, located at 14 South Dr, Bentleigh East.

Our panel will feature esteemed professionals such as Dr Michael Carr Gregg (child/adolescent psychologist), Dan Donahoo (Digital Innovation Manager from Project Rockit), and Blake Seufert (McKinnon Secondary College, IT Systems Manager).

The evening will consist of presentations from these panelists, who will share their insights on the impact of social media on youth. Blake will explain how the school manages social media and our aims to help students use these platforms effectively. We will explore its benefits, drawbacks, and the importance of setting healthy boundaries. Additionally, we will touch upon the implications of AI in the social lives of our students, examining how it can shape their future interactions and experiences.

Student representatives will also present valuable student perspectives gathered from our internal survey on social media usage and boundaries. Their insights will add a meaningful dimension to our discussion.

Following the presentations, we will enter into a Q&A session with our panelists, allowing for an open and engaging conversation with the audience.
