WELCOME BACK FOR SEMESTER 2 IN SCIENCE
Welcome back to McKinnon Secondary College for Semester 2, 2024. True to form, Semester 1 in the Science faculty was nothing short of greatness from both students and staff. From academic success to exciting experiments, our students and staff wholeheartedly engaged with our Science curriculum. This semester, we will continue to have a range of fantastic opportunities happening within the Science faculty for both students and staff to enjoy.
Our team of Science staff expands this semester as we welcome a few new staff to our faculty.
Firstly, we welcome James Van Rooy to McKinnon. Mr Van Rooy will be teaching Science and Maths at our East Campus to our Years 8 and 9 students.
Secondly, we welcome Poppi Azzopardi to our Science faculty this term, as she replaces Ms Sweeney whilst she embarks her well-deserved long service leave. Ms Azzopardi has worked with us for many years as a casual relief teacher, so we are incredibly grateful to have her experience and expertise in our department.
I wish them all the best for their start here at McKinnon and look forward to their contributions to our Science department.
Key Events Coming Up:
National Science Week: In Week 5 of Term 3, we will be celebrating National Science Week (10-18 August). Over Monday 12 - Friday 16 August, we will be hosting the McKinnon Science Week Festival which will include a variety of exciting activities, both new and old (beloved by students and staff), that will run during classes, recess and lunch times at both the McKinnon Road and East Campuses.
As we enter the second half of the year, I wish all students, staff and parents a wonderful semester 2.
