Leadership Report
The end of Term 1
As we come to the end of Term 1, I am filled with a sense of pride and gratitude for the wonderful community we have here at Marion. It has been an eventful term filled with learning, growth, and achievement. Term 1 is always a busy time of the year with new routines and class structures being established and setup for the year ahead. Our students and staff have worked exceptionally hard to ensure that this has been successful in setting them up for another wonderful year to follow from here.
In this edition of the newsletter, we have a special Sports Day page and PE flavour to the content with a special piece on locomotor and ball skills strategies from Mrs M. We hope you have a look and enjoy engaging with these with your child/ren. Mrs Sifa has also shared a page with a wrap-up of some and showcase of the learning that has been happening in Science across the school in Term 1.
Learning Conversations
Over the past two weeks, we have been hosting Learning Conversations in all classes across the school. These have been very well attended by students and families and will have provided valuable insights into your child's learning. This year, as a staff we looked at trying to place a significant focus on student-led learning conferences and a greater focus on authentic learner agency. We hope this enabled your child/ren to share about their learning and goals in learning moving forward.
Staffing updates
Next term, Mrs Sprigg is taking leave for the first five weeks. She is enjoying some well-deserved additional rest and relaxation with family and is heading off exploring through the Northern Territory. We are all very envious and wish you a wonderful time.
During this time, Mrs Volaris will be backfilling in the Deputy Principal role. I look forward to welcoming Michelle to the Leadership Team and working together next term. This has seen some shuffling in Room 4. Sarah Florez Guevara will work Monday to Wednesday with Vanessa Toogood working Thursday and Friday.
I would also like to wish Julie Hewitt-Hunt a great return holiday to visit family in the United Kingdom and will be on leave for the first two weeks of next term.
Happy holidays and return to school
I wish all families a wonderful and safe holiday break. Please take some time to enjoy all of the things that are important to you, your family and child/ren. We look forward to seeing students back at school on Tuesday 30th April, 2024, with Monday 29th April, 2024 being a Pupil Free Day.
Have a wonderful holiday and see everyone back for Term 2.
Warm regards,
Guy Walmsley
Principal
