Level 5 & 6 Wonga Weekly

Week 1, Term 2

🌿 WEEK ONE LEARNING

🌱LITERACY

In Literacy this week, students will be unpacking the mentor text Azaria: A True History. They will explore the purpose, audience and structure of the text, along with how it uses figurative language to convey imagery and captivate readers. Students will then experiment with these devices in their own writing to retell news stories with a different voice. Additionally, we will be revisiting the correct use of tense; whether that be past, present or future.

What you can do at home

Help your child to set aside time to read - preferably every night. This will help them build important learning habits. Your child now has access to Reading Eggspress, to help with adding variety to their range of text choices.

🌱 NUMERACY

In Numeracy this week, we will be revising the concept of multiplicative thinking and reviewing strategies for multiplication and division, and linking the two.

What you can do at home

Students have access to set multiplication and division questions on Mathletics. Please encourage them to achieve 1000 points each week.
