Caring Learning Growing: Every Child Every Day

Dear Families,

What a fantastic day it was last Friday. A sea of green, blue, red and yellow ran, jumped, threw and hurdled.  I am beyond proud of our children, who had a go at everything and cheered and supported each other.

Congratulations to Ranger Ubergang and Kobe Augustin, who did all of the above and then headed to the pool to represent SMJ at the Greater Western Region Swimming Carnival.

Ranger placed 8th overall in both 50m freestyle and backstroke with a PB in both events!

Kobe placed 13th in the 50m freestyle and 14th overall in the 50m backstroke. We are very proud of you both. I'm sure you both slept well that night.

Today, we gathered in the church for the Way of the Cross. These are a series of reflections that help us pray and remember Jesus: his death and resurrection.  Good Friday symbolises the end of the Catholic season of Lent, which has been a time for reflection, renewal and spiritual growth. Today is Holy Thursday, when Jesus shared the Last Supper with his disciples, a sacred tradition celebrated as part of our Catholic Mass when we come together for the Eucharist.

Today also brings us to the close of Term 1. It feels like only yesterday that I was writing my first newsletter as Principal.

As always, I cannot thank all the staff across the school enough for their hard work and dedication. Their commitment to our children is commendable. Thank you to our children for the joy and challenge you bring us: we grow alongside you each day. Thank you also to our families for the trust you show in us.

Wishing you the blessings of the Easter season. Stay safe and well, and we look forward to welcoming you back for a fun-filled Term 2.
