Touch Football and Cricket Trials

On Wednesday we had 16 students and two of our fabulous teachers participate in the Diocesan Touch and Cricket Trials. All of our students demonstrated our true St Edward's spirit and displayed excellent sportsmanship.

Congratulations to the following students for being selected in the Diocesan Touch Teams: Cash Hoffman, Nash Bradley, Dylan Cooper, Mia Coombes, Natalia Allan-Saunders and Tiannah Sutcliffe.

The St Edward’s Netball Teams for the 2024 Winter Competition

Due to students relocating, we have had a couple of spots open up in the Suns and the Blazers team, so if anyone is interested in playing, please let us know.

If you don’t have a St Edward's netball uniform, there is a small amount of second hand sets available at the Primary Canteen, or new uniforms can be purchased on Compass - in the canteen menu, go to uniforms. New uniforms cost $75.

Games will begin on Saturday 4th May 2024.

The draw can be found on the Tamworth Netball Association Facebook page.

Netball training is decided by coaches.

Netball training will be held at the primary campus Friday the first week back Term 2, Week 1. All teams will train at this time unless specified by your coach.

Please also note the name changes between the Suns and the Blazes. The names have simply been switch

Netball - Quirindi Under 12 Representative Team

Audrey Stewart, Rhimyah Jenner and Ivy Allan commenced their 2024 representative netball season with Quirindi Netball Association, U12’s in Inverell on Sunday. The girls played in 6 games, coming away with 5 wins. Quirindi played Inverell in Round 3, going down 10 - 15. Quirindi and Inverell met again in round 6, Inverell were up by 7 - 1 at half time. Quirindi clawed their way back to win 16 - 12. Congratulations Girls!

Quirindi Future Stars Development Squad

Congratulations to the Quirindi Future Stars who competed in Inverell against teams from across the New England on Sunday. Louise Archer and Shelby Heywood are in the Quirindi Future Stars under 11s development team and this was the girls first carnival together, but they were more than ready to showcase their skills. Tough competition from more experienced teams didn’t box them in, rebounding with a well-deserved win in Round 3 against Moree, and finishing with a draw in Round 5 against Armidale. Special thanks to coach Chloe Adams for her commitment to developing young talent. Thanks to Inverell Netball Association, umpires and volunteers who made the carnival the success it was.

Karate

On Saturday 23rd March, Xavier Vine (2M) and Fletcher Vine (KC) attended and participated in a Karate grading at Kenpokai Karate. The boys were put through the paces, testing their skills and knowledge that they have been taught.

On Monday, Fletcher and Xavier found out they had both successfully passed their grading and were presented with their new belts and certificates. Fletcher graded to a yellow belt and Xavier graded to a blue belt, which also has a new blue Ghi and gives him more responsibility as he becomes a helper to the lower belts.

Xavier is the youngest member of the Kenpokai dojo to reach this level!

Congratulations Xav & Fletch on achieving a great result!

Basketball Draw

Please be advised that unfortunately there are quite a few Referees unavailable on Thursday 11th April due to NIAS commitments in Wagga Wagga.

There will be a few games with one referee so I encourage you and your players to be understanding with the referees that we do have available.

Please read through some housekeeping for the current basketball season

1. Tamworth Sports Dome

Our wonderful facility is operated by the Tamworth Regional Council and Tamworth Basketball share this facility with other businesses and their clients. It is important that we do not have children running through the foyer area and playing on the stairs that lead up to Rural Fit. This is for the safety of the children, as well as the other users of the Sports Dome. We have also had some instances of young children being seen to be running around the car park area unsupervised. As you can appreciate, this is a major safety concern, and we ask all parents supervise their children whilst attending the Sports Dome.

2.  Spectators

Tamworth Basketball and Tamworth Region Council provide seating for spectators to use whilst watching the games. We appreciate that at times this seating can be limited when we have an increased amount of spectators watching games but we ask that spectators do not sit on the Players/Coaches benches that are situated on either side of the score bench. These benches are specifically for the players and coaches, and we need to ensure that players and coaches have an adequate area to use during their game. We are in the process of acquiring additional seating.

Spectators are also reminded not to stand or sit directly behind the baskets at either end of the court. This is for the safety of all players, referees, court supervisors and spectators. If you are asked to move along by one of Court Supervisors, please do so as we would not like to see anyone become injured from standing or sitting in this area.

3.  2024 Competition Rules and Information

We have attached a copy of the 2024 Junior Competition Rules and Information. Please read them as it outlines information relating to scoring, players, fees and other matters that help us to operate our local competitions.

Hockey

Over the last 4 Mondays Araya, Oliver, Ivy, Charlotte, Sienna, Ashton, Nathan and Lilly have represented St Edward's in the Primary School Hockey Comp. This was a non competitive comp and a great way for those interested in Hockey to have a go, see if it was for them and see if they like Hockey as a sport.

Our great little team was a mix of comp players and newcomers, each player was encouraged to have a go and our seasonal players made sure each player had an opportunity to get the ball.

Tamworth Hockey have a Come and Try Day on Saturday 13th April. Head over and have a try, it’s fun, your child will learn some great skills and meet new friends along the way.

St Edward's Representative Shirts

Please keep a lookout for these in your cupboards, school bags, dirty clothes baskets, even under beds. We are still missing a considerable amount of shirts which will be required to be handed back in this term.

Netball and Basketball Uniforms

You are able to order both the St Edward's Netball and St Edward's Basketball uniform by using the Compass app.

HOW TO ORDER:

1.Click on the Compass app

2. Select more (bottom right corner)

3. Select canteen

4. Select child

5. Select day (tomorrow's date)

6. Select uniform menu

Simply select size and the uniform will be handed to your child at school the day selected. Please keep all tags on until you are happy with the size after trying on to allow a simple exchange at the primary canteen.

If your child is in Year 6 and does not have a sibling to hand their netball/basketball uniform to, could you consider donating or selling your uniform through the school? We are always looking for second hand uniforms for our new families and new students to the sport.  Please see Mrs Bridge in the Canteen for more information around this.
