Primary Mathematics Learning Walks
On Monday we had some parents join us at the Primary Campus for a Mathematics Learning Walk.
Some of the things noticed by our parent during the walk were:
What did you notice?:
- Different strategies being implemented among varied groups which helped children to grasp the concepts easier.
- Teachers and EA's moving around the classroom to support children in different levels.
- Different learning stations with different ways to show how to learn and work out the answers.
- All children were engaged in the rotations.
- Supports on the walls, in the form of EA’s, and the teacher themself. I found this great in terms of giving different children different options in terms of how they seek support to learn.
Write a sentence to summarise your Learning Walk today?
- Informative and helpful in understanding how the math block works.
- Eye opening and a great and better understanding of how maths is taught.
- An amazing insight into the math block. Thank you so much, it was fantastic!
- Although I had to cut it short due to unwell kids at home, I found it refreshing to see how my children are being taught and supported in mathematics, which is my son’s favourite subject. I believe the methods used in which to teach maths (rotations and maths groups) are a significant contributor to why my son enjoys maths so much.. He is being challenged at his level which aids in him progressing and being extended.
We thank the parents who were able to join us.
