Italian Update

Ciao a tutti!

How quickly the time has gone this year. Here we are already in Term 4! But before we look ahead to this term, let’s celebrate some of the wonderful efforts of our students in Term 3.

It was ‘meraviglioso’ to hear our students speaking so much Italian throughout Term 3. Speaking another language can be daunting, but it didn’t stop SKIPPS children from Years 3 to 6 discussing forming a band, cooking a favorite dish, or sharing their health ailments, while all the while learning about Italian grammar and verbs in everyday, meaningful contexts. Bravissimi!

Meanwhile, Year 1 and 2 children went on a wonderful adventure all over Italy with Pinocchio. They learned about fascinating places such as Pisa, Pompeii, Venice, and Murano and picked up lots of useful Italian language along the way. You can see some of their enticing postcards below.

Our fabulous Foundations, otherwise known as ‘Le Stelline’ (The Little Stars) were also busy; learning the colors in Italian and even forming sentences describing animals that are ‘grande’ (big) and ‘piccolo’ (small).

Now onto Term 4, this term promises to be a big one, not least because we will be having our annual Italian Day on Thursday 27th of November. Cooking, performances, games, and music will all be on the agenda, so get ready to ‘festeggiare’ (celebrate)!

If any parents or carers think they might be interested in participating in the day in some way, please feel free to get touch – we love having our community involved.

A presto!
