Making Good Choices

This term we explore the M in the FARM Code- Making good choices.

Students recognise that they are in control of their actions and words. Everyone is capable of making good choices however at times peers and emotions may impact their decision making.

Students are taught strategies to manage their emotions and allow time for calming down before acting. Staff model emotional regulation strategies through role play and explicit instruction.

Making Good Choices- Road Safety

To support child development in decision making it is important that our school community reinforces this through their actions and words. We continue to support making positive choices each day by acknowledging the good choices made and reflecting on choices that were not expected or safe. As a community we can do this each day when it comes to road safety outside our school.

  • Cross the road at the pedestrian crossing when possible
  • Always hold your child’s hand when crossing the road
  • Do not walk between cars when crossing the road- your child cannot be seen or see approaching cars
  • Do not walk in front of cars expecting them to stop because you have raised your hand.

When dropping off or picking up your child from the Kiss and Drop areas on Framhouse Blvd and Redding Rise:

  • do not have them access the boot as this places your child in danger of the car approaching from behind.
  • do not have children exit the car roadside, ensure they exit via the footpath side of the car.

Together we can model making good choices and keep our children safe!
