Principal's News

Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!

Welcome to Term 4, the final stage of our 2025 school year! This is always an exciting and busy time as we celebrate achievements, reflect on growth and prepare for 2026.

The longer days and warmer weather bring with them opportunities to finish the year with energy and joy.

Across this term we will:

  • Celebrate our Year 6 students as they conclude their primary school journey.
  • Welcome our 2026 Prep students and families as they begin their transition into school life. We begin our 'Pathway to Prep' program with the Prep 2026 Parent Information Evening on Thursday 16th October at 7.00pm.
  • Focus on student learning goals and share progress through reports and Learning Conversations.
  • Gather as a community for our Christmas Carols that highlight the spirit of SMCM.

2026 Planning

As we prepare for the year ahead I kindly ask that any families not returning in 2026 (other than our Year 6 students) notify us via email as soon as possible. This will allow us to offer enrolment places to families currently on our waiting list.

In the coming weeks staff will begin drafting the 2026 class lists. If you have a request regarding your child’s class placement for wellbeing or academic reasons please email these to me by Friday 31st October. While requests will be carefully considered alongside staff recommendations they cannot be guaranteed.

As we look forward, it is important that we remain present to the everyday moments of 2025 - teaching, learning and community life - take the time to celebrate all we have achieved together this year.

Let us enter this term with gratitude for the journey so far and with hope for the weeks ahead.

Congratulations to Roxene Beech (Learning & Behaviour Engagement Coach) who has accepted a new position as Disability Inclusion Team Leader at Walcom Ngarrwa Secondary College in Werribee, commencing this term.

On behalf of our SMCM community, I extend my thanks and gratitude to Roxy for her valuable contributions as part of our Wellbeing team. She has worked tirelessly to support students, staff and parents and has helped strengthen our collective understanding of student behaviour and the importance of making adjustments that ensure inclusion for all children.

We are grateful for the impact Roxy has had during her time with us and wish her every success in this new chapter.
