Flourish – A Celebration of Creativity and Community
The Marian College 2025 Art Exhibition, Flourish, was a vibrant celebration of creativity, talent, and community spirit. The Design Warehouse came alive with colour, imagination, and energy as students proudly showcased their artworks to family, friends, and staff.
On arrival, families had the opportunity to draw themselves and become part of the exhibition, adding a fun and interactive touch that reflected the inclusive and creative spirit of the night.
The evening drew a fantastic turnout, with guests admiring the impressive standard of work, the presentation, and the welcoming atmosphere. Students took photos with their creations, classmates, and teachers, capturing the joy and pride of the occasion.
Principal Angela Romano, spoke about the importance of creativity in education and how the arts allow students to express themselves and “flourish” in their own unique ways. She also presented the Principal’s Award to Year 12 student, Liana Abreu, recognising exceptional artistic skill and dedication.
Guests were treated to delicious food and refreshments prepared and served by our talented Hospitality staff Mr Cameron Woolcock and Mr Jamie Haste, adding to the warmth and community feel of the evening.
Visitors also enjoyed participating in the People’s Choice voting, casting their ballots for their favourite artwork of the exhibition. Winners of the People’s Choice Award were Art Making: Isabelle Cresp and Visual Communication Design: Alba Um, both recognised for their creativity, originality, and outstanding presentation.
The success of Flourish is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our talented Art, Design and Technology students and teachers and the months of creative exploration and preparation. Senior Art Making Teacher, Mrs Kelly Deliopoulas, also took the opportunity to thank students and families for their ongoing support of the Arts at Marian.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event making it so memorable. Flourish truly embodied the spirit of Marian College, creativity, community, and celebration.
Reflections from students captured the excitement and pride of the evening:
Liana Abreu - Year 12
“I had an amazing experience attending the ‘Marian Art Exhibition’, a celebration of creativity and artistic expression within our school community. The exhibition featured a range of diverse artworks, from fashion and paintings to digital creations and sculptures, with each work reflecting the unique talents and perspectives of Marian students. It was so great to see everyone’s hard work come together in such a professional layout.
As well as enjoying the exhibition, I was truly honoured to receive the ‘Principal’s Award’ for my work ‘Coping Mechanism’, which was such a special surprise and an unforgettable moment. As a Year 12 student, it was really special to share this moment with my friends, family and teachers and I’ll always look back on the exhibition as one of the highlights of my time at school.”
Abigail Cresp - Year 9
“The Art Exhibition was excellent, and I really enjoyed it this year, having attended in previous years. The art was well presented and thoughtfully curated, not overcrowded, but balanced. It was well executed and a very enjoyable event”.
Ava Grech - Year 8
“I really enjoyed the art show, whether it was the sewing, the paintings, or the woodwork, everything was amazing to see. It was great to see what everyone has been working on throughout the year. The exhibition was a wonderful experience, and it was lovely to see the talent of students from all year levels and get a glimpse of what I’ll be creating in the years to come.”
