As we reach the end of the 3rd week of Term 4 and we are only around 60 days to Christmas we have some important information to share with our families as we head towards the end of the school year….
Firstly, Information for parents in relation to the changes to social media access for young people from the 10th December – from the eSafety Commissioner
From 10 December 2025, certain social media platforms won’t be allowed to let Australian children under 16 create or keep an account, giving them more time to develop important skills and maturity.
The eSafety Commissioner has shared with schools very valuable information to share with our families in preparation for these changes.
Today, we have launched new pages on the social media age restrictions hub, designed to support parents and carers as the restrictions come into effect.
These tailored resources aim to help you understand what the changes mean and what you can do to prepare your child for a safer online experience.
What’s available for your family:

New answers to frequently asked questions on the social media age restrictions and your family page.

Get-ready guides for parents and carers and young people with practical steps to help support your family through the transition.

Conversation guide with tips on how to talk together about why the social media law is changing and what you can do to ease the impacts.

Help-seeking information for young people so you know where to guide your child if they need additional support.
These resources are designed to empower you with the tools and knowledge to keep your child safe online.
Additionally, you can learn about the changes and how they aim to protect young Australians by attending a free 30-minute information session. By joining, you’ll gain a clear understanding of the new rules, confidence to guide your family through the changes and access to trusted resources to support safe and positive online engagement.

We will continue to share with our families important information in this space over the next part of the term.

Over the course of this year the school has been exploring ways to better share relevant and important information with our families about relevant wellbeing information such as: Cybersafety, Siblings, Parenting styles etc
We have decided that moving forward for 2026 we will invest in School TV which will be available to all our families on our social media platforms, SEQTA portal page and school website.
School TV provides free webinars on relevant topics, most recent research in particular areas over the course of the year, 10 updates on new and important information for all of us. This will also connect to the work that is taking place in our Pastoral Care classes for our students.
It also allows our families the amazing opportunity to access this information in many languages which is so important for our community.
We believe that this is an amazing opportunity for both our school and our parent community and we look forward to sharing more information about this new way of communicating with our families in the coming weeks.
In our previous edition of the Marian at the end of Term 3 we spoke about the program for Brigidine Celebration Day.
The most successful part of the day and we had many was the tile activity that each year level did around the theme of HOSPITALITY.
We are now going to place these tiles around the seated area near the school canteen and once the tiling is complete, we will share the finished product we will share this with our community.
With our new Lamp Bearers and CAPtains of Change chosen for 2026 we now move on to the election of our student leaders from Years 7-11.
Ms. Stafford is the process of collecting from our student body those students who have nominated themselves for the process and over the next couple of weeks voting will take place for each of the cohorts. We look forward to sharing with our community in the next edition of the Marian News our entire leadership team for 2026.
We are now in the last few weeks of 2025 as we head towards final assessments, exams and then our STEP UP program for 2026. It is true to say that we still have so much to do and so little time……
