Paper towers with Yr 5

The Year 5 students had to think about how they can shape and manipulate paper to create strength, stability and height in designing and building a paper tower.
Then the fun began, and together in small groups they constructed their creations.
Each paper tower had to meet the following success criteria:
- our paper tower is at least 60 cm tall
- we only used designated materials
- our paper tower can stand on its own without support.
- our design sketch matches our built paper final.
- our paper tower shows creativity and problem-solving.
- our design can withstand wind force - gently blow, the paper tower. Increase intensity (to test stability)
- our design can hold the weighted items near the top of the tower (to test strength).
