A Reminder to Pause: The Happiness Right Here
It's been a blur of activity and preparation at Holy Cross! From busily organising the year 3/4 camp and laying the groundwork for 2026 to planning the Spring Carnival fundraiser, our gaze has been firmly fixed on the future.
But amid all this looking forward, a recent moment brought us firmly back to the present. While walking a family on a school tour, a parent watched the students in the playground and simply observed, "They all look so happy."
It was a powerful reminder that the daily smiles, the enthusiastic morning greetings, and the genuine joy in learning we see are not things we should take for granted but rather beautiful, everyday hallmarks of our school community.
We've seen this joy not only in the playground but in the classrooms, where students and teachers are fully engaged, and even in the quiet moments, like the beautiful manners shown by students who patiently knock and wait for an opportunity to speak.
As a long weekend approaches, we hope you enjoy the time to stop, breathe, perhaps even pray, and appreciate the small, wonderful moments happening all around you.
Many Blessings,
Eloise Meyer

The PFA has been working hard on several fundraisers to upgrade our outdoor play areas!
Thanks to our generous community, we're on the final stretch but need a little more help.
You can support us by attending the Spring Carnival Fundraising Dinner. Tickets are $60 per person and include a two-course meal, drinks, and entertainment. Last-minute walk-ins are welcome!
Whether you can give half an hour of your time or simply participate in the events, every little bit helps. Here are some other ways you can help.

- Sell or Purchase Raffle Tickets - The raffle will be drawn on Friday, 31st October. Tickets are available on CDF pay or at the office. Check Operoo if you can spend half an hour to sell some tickets.
- Most importantly, visit our Sponsors and let them know Holy Cross sent you!
Crossing Works Begin
Works will recommence from Monday 27 October at the Hamilton and Barringo roads intersection.
These works will complete the pedestrian crossing between Holy Cross Primary School and the Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct, with new pathways, drainage improvements, pedestrian operated signals and upgraded lighting.
Please be aware of traffic disruptions in the area while works are underway. To reduce impacts, works will take place between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm, with traffic management in place.
Further works within the Macedon Ranges Sports Precinct will also begin over the coming weeks with contractors appointed for Stage 2 construction.
MWe thank the Macedon Ranges Shire for their ongoing communication with us and commitment to improving safety and access for our students and community.

Christmas Concert Date Change
Please note a necessary change to the date of our Annual Christmas Concert.
The concert will now be held on Wednesday, December 10th.
It was originally scheduled for Tuesday, December 9th, but we discovered that the 9th conflicts with the Transition Day for high schools. Moving the date will ensure our students and staff involved in rehearsals and performances can attend without the challenge of the Transition Day schedule.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to celebrating together with you on Wednesday, December 10th! More details to come!
Check 'n' Treat... Head Lice!
Head lice can easily spread through places such as schools particularly with young children. This time of year, head lice cases of head lice tend to become more regular and we have already had a number of reported cases.
We are asking all families to take some time next weekend to check your child's hair for lice, whether they are symptomatic or not. A whole school check in will help interrupt unnoticed lice outbreaks. Children should not attend school until the lice have been treated.
How often should I check my child for head lice and nits?
As a rule of thumb, it is a good idea to check your child for head lice and nits every three to four days after contact with a known case of lice. You can check more often if you notice your child itching their head a lot.
Stopping re-infection
After you have treated the head lice and nits, you should also wash all bedding of infected people. Either wash linens in hot water (at least 60°C) or dry them using a clothes dryer on a warm or hot setting. There is no evidence that you need to clean the whole house to stop the spread of head lice. Avoid sharing brushes, combs and hats. If your child gets head lice or nits again, repeat the treatment process.
Please ensure you let the school know if your child has head lice. This way, they can let other families know, to help stop the spread.
