Maths Learning

We recently were learning about Mass and Capacity in Maths. It was lots of fun learning about these topics as there were a lot of hands on activities.

One of the days, we were able to get outside to the sandpit to test the capacity of different sized containers. First, we estimated how many cups or spoons it would take to fill a container. Then, we measured it out to check how close our estimate was and ordered the containers.

We have also been playing some games in Maths to improve our fluency and addition skills. In this game, we took turns in turning over come playing cards and adding them together. The person that got closest to the target number won the round and then we played again. Some of us chose a target number of 20 by adding two cards total together, and some of us made two 2-digit numbers and tried to get closer to a larger number such as 50. It is a great game because you can change the total and choose how big you the numbers you are adding and what your target number will be.

Athletics Day

On Thursday 1st of August, P-2 Grades enjoyed a fun day participating in games for their Athletic Day. There were many fun activities such as building a skeleton, completing an obstacle course, tug of war and chicken throwing. A big thank you to Mr Rees for organising this fun day and to the Grade 5/6 students for helping run the activities, you were a big help!

International Friendship Day

On Tuesday 30th of August it was International Friendship Day. 2C decided that they would make some Friendship bracelets to give to their friends.

We also wrote poems about our friends during writing.
