Our students embarked on an exciting journey to create a meaningful mural for our school. The process began with a design workshop led by Gustavo, where students brainstormed and created illustrations by combining words into unique designs. For example, to convey the theme of 'mindfulness,' one student creatively combined a snail and a clock to symbolise slowing down in life.
During the workshop, students explored various themes and concepts, using their creativity to come up with diverse and imaginative ideas. With a wide variety of designs, Gustavo developed a comprehensive plan that included different colour schemes and layouts. Students then used their voices to choose the background colour.
Once the design was finalised, students developed their collaborative skills by practising a variety of painting techniques. They painted each section, focusing on applying each colour with care. Multiple coats of paint were added to ensure vibrancy and durability. Finally, they added details with markers, including different quotes and words.
The message behind our mural celebrates our new whole school program, The Resilience Project. This program focuses on educating students about four key themes: gratitude, empathy, emotional literacy, and resilience. Our mural highlights what students have learned about these themes so far and serves as a reminder of their significance for our school community.
