Safety Cross

July 2024

July 31st 2024, was the 225th day for not having a Recordable Injury. This is something each and every one of you should be proud of.

Thank you all for taking care of yourselves and also one another whilst at work.

There are still first aid injuries that are happening. We had one for the month of July, so we all need to be ever vigilant and always engaged with each task that you carry out.

The latest yearly data from SafeWork Australia is displaying an up-tick in Manual Handling Injuries:

  • 497,300 people in Australia had a work-related injury or illness (3.5% of people who worked at some time during the year).
  • The most common cause of injury or illness was 'Lifting, pushing, pulling or bending' (24%).
  • 66% had time off because of the injury or illness.
  • 31% received workers compensation for the injury or illness.

Make sure you are warmed up for your day, ease into heavier workloads around mid-morning, use all the lifting aids provided. Always ask a work colleague for a hand when required, we are all here to help one another.
