Social Media
The use of social media is something that many people utilise on a regular basis. Most mornings I will peruse what’s on my accounts to find out the latest happenings in the world. It is also a wonderful way to connect with others!
At Somerville Primary School we have a Facebook page that allows our community to see many of the wonderful learning opportunities and events we have here at SPS. With that said, there are legal parameters and expectations of what can be posted. We embrace and showcase our values of Honesty, Trust, Respect, Responsibility and Courage in our posts.
As principal I value the support and community engagement that our social media avenues provide. I also encourage parents and the community to adopt the philosophy of embracing all the activities we provide our students. I am an advocate for fair use and appropriate commentary on our accounts or parent related accounts that mention our school’s name.
If you have a concern about something at our school please ensure that this is addressed with the school. Often speaking with the class teacher, the office or members of the leadership team in person, helps us to understand how we can continue to support the children in our care.
Please find our school guide for Social Media Protocols for Parents in this edition of the newsletter.
