Kaori Bawden

Konnichiwa from the Japanese Class!! We have started our lessons celebrating Naidoc Week. I visited the Ainu Cultural Centre in Hokkaido when I visited my family last holiday, and I bought a small instrument made of bamboo. We compared and contrasted musical instruments between Aboriginal and Ainu (Japanese indigenous )people. We watched and listened to those instruments and found out they sound very similar between ムックリ”Mukkuri”(Ainu musical instrument) and didgeridoo. However aboriginal art and Ainu art are very different. So they have experience making that art in the Japanese lessons.

Here is the website to watch the Ainu instrument "Mukkuri"
