Student Wellbeing

Mrs Rebecca Beveridge

Hello everyone and welcome back to a new Term! The students have settled really well back into the swing of things and it has been great to see lots of smiling faces ready for a brand new term of learning!

Mind and Body Incursion

On Wednesday we had an incursion that focused on keeping our minds and bodies happy and healthy! We were really excited about this incursion because the incursion allowed students the opportunity to try different self-regulation techniques and strategies and determine which ones were right for them or ones they enjoyed using the most.

There were lots of different options for students such as mindfulness meditation, breathing exercises, mindfulness stretching and poses, zen gardens, craft activities, physical activity games and more. The students really enjoyed participating in all the different activities!

Here are some of their thoughts:

  • Oliver- "I thought it was fantastic and it calmed my body down and made me sleepy".
  • Joey- "I liked doing different stretches".
  • Ed P- "I liked doing all the poses
  • Gabby- "I liked doing different stretches".
  • Ivy- "I liked moving around and doing the different poses".

Here are some wonderful photos from the incursion!

Resources for home:

  • Smiling Mind is a really good app that can be used for Meditation Practices. You can use it at home to listen to guided meditation. Smiling Mind also has the Resilient Families Program which is great!
  • There are also some really great resources on Headspace.
  • Breathing- here are some resources for breathing techniques such as Balloon breathing, Five-finger breathing and Box breathing.
  • There are lots of different mindfulness poses and stretching out there and lots of videos on YouTube!

I have created a Parents Resources Folder with a range of resources that you may be interested in. I will continue to add to this when I find new resources!
