News from the Deputy Principal
Welcome back to Term 3! We have already had a few busy weeks of wonderful learning experiences provided by our amazing teachers and other groups who have come into the school to teach us about Wellbeing and First Aid. It has been so wonderful to hear the positive comments from our students about the experiences they have taken part in.
Our NAIDOC events were of great excitement for our students and they eagerly completed the activities. Check out the photos in each year level to see what they got up to.
Parent Teacher Interviews, PSGs and NCCD
Last Term we held our Parent Teacher interviews and PSG Meetings. Thank you to everyone for supporting their children and the staff as we work together to create the best learning experiences and learning adjustments for the children in our care. Next week we complete the Parent Teacher Interviews and PSGs for the 1/2 families. Please check your emails for information in relation to these. Bookings are now open for 1/2 families.
This week we have been preparing for our funding allocations and have been vigilantly moderating the adjustments we make for students who come under the disability funding categories or NCCD. Part of this process involves meeting with Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools, who ensure that our students meet the criteria for funding. The areas in which we must have evidence are Parent Communication (through Parent Teacher meetings, phone calls, PSG meetings or emails), evidence of adjustments (in work programs, playground tracking, interventions, excursions, small group work etc), evidence of disability (diagnosed or undiagnosed) and monitoring and reviewing (assessments, goals, PLPs, PSGs and reviewing the interventions and programs taking place). Together this collection of evidence is for 10 weeks from the last 12 months. This can be a demanding process and I thank all staff at St Joseph's for their contributions to this process and the families for supporting their children and the staff.
Book Week 17th - 23rd August
This year the Book Week Theme is " Reading is Magic". During this week St Joseph's will hold a Book Week Dress Up day, so start thinking about your Book Week Costume. More information will be sent out to families in the coming weeks.
