commCONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Loaise O’Toole, who gave birth to two beautiful twin girls, Margot and Bella. Mum and babies are doing well.
STAFFING NEWS
I’m pleased to let you know that Morgan McDonald is teaching PE for us this term. Morgan is being supported by Can Osman in terms of planning and Ms Osman continues to organise our sporting events. We are also using the Term 3 Sporting Schools Grant to bring in a basketball coach, which will further enhance the PE program. A huge thank you to Can Osman for her ongoing success in receiving these grants and for her tireless efforts in preparing for the up-coming Athletics day on August 8th.
Congratulations to Cate Bain-Lowry who has been appointed to a part-time intervention role. Cate will be supporting the Tutor Learning Initiative and also trialling a social skills program, two days a week. We’re thrilled to have her back!
ALL HER FAULT PRODUCTIONS
Our school has been chosen as one of the filming locations for the drama series All Her Fault. The shoot is scheduled to take place during the September holidays and will likely last for just one day. This is a fantastic opportunity for our school, as it comes with a generous access fee.
FLAGPOLES
Unfortunately, we've experienced some delays with the installation of our new flagpoles. Once completed, the Australian national flag, the Aboriginal flag, and the Torres Strait Islander flag will be proudly displayed at the main entrance of the school. Additionally, we plan to create a First Nations Garden around the flag area.
PLAYGROUND ENHANCEMENT
I’m optimistic that our turf will be installed before the school holidays. We’re also in the process of ordering construction toys, soccer goals, and other equipment to enhance the new areas. The Student Representative Council and I will be consulting with students to gather their input on these new additions. I would like to thank the SRC on the wonderful support they’ve provided to our students as they park their bikes and scooters in the mornings. It has made a real difference!
FRIENDSHIP TREE
I can hardly believe we’ve unveiled the penultimate tree cover for our friendship tree. Anna Barden dedicates over 100 hours each term to create a new crocheted cover, and we are truly grateful for her immense generosity of time, energy, and spirit. With her second son, Luther, now in grade 6, Anna will only be able to provide one more cover in Term 4. I’ve been encouraging our prospective Prep families to take up crochet! Anna, you are simply incredible!
DEFIBRILLATOR UPDATE
The defibrillator has arrived and is installed next to the office door in the administration building. This is available to anyone in the community that needs it!
