"News from the Nest"

Another big fortnight in the nest!

Welcome back to Term for all the Eagles families out there. It's been a great start and it's been awesome to see plenty of smiling faces both out in the yard and in the classroom.

Exciting times this Friday as our 5/6 students travel to the SSA Basketball event and the teams have been hard at work on the court to ensure they are ready to hit the floor hard on Friday!

By all reports, Isaac T has been hot from beyond the arc throughout training camp whilst Paddy D has been rebounding strongly and Felix A has been class at the Point Guard position. The girls are also looking ready to fire with Jordan H pulling some strong rebounds!

Olympic Day is also coming up on Monday and we look forward to getting the competitive juices flowing again!

Let's also keep working hard in the classroom Lok Lok as we still have some catching up to do on the token front. We will get there!

Remember, Eagles Soar as One!

“Press from the Pouch”

What a start to Term 3 for the Kanyul Kangaroos!

What has been happening in the first 3 weeks you ask? Let's start off by saying how amazing it was for the Kanyul students to celebrate and participate in the NADIOC Week celebrations at the beginning of the term.

Coming up and something to look forward to is the Ceres Olympics. This will be a great opportunity for the Kanyul greatness to appear with force and fierceness. The day will consist of a range of activities for the students to complete that they may have seen over the past week during the beginning of the 2024 Olympics.

Some inspiration that the Kanyul Kangaroo participants could draw from for these events are Jess Fox - Australian Olympics flag bearer winning 2 gold medals for our country making her the first woman to win both titles in the Canoe Singles since the 1992 Olympics! CRAZY! The double gold medal means Fox is the first woman to both titles, in either men’s or women’s, since slalom became a permanent fixture on the Olympic programme in 1992. Grace Brown, born in Camperdown first Olympian to win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics showing great strength and courage on the slippery roads throughout her race. We have so many inspirational people around!

When chatting with Jimmy he said his favourite event in the Olympics is Triathlon because he just doesn’t know how they actually do it, they are amazing! The Olympic athletes inspire Jimmy to push through and when they get pain or tired, they just keep going. Macey saying that she loves gymnastics and has been researching the country New Zealand. The athletes are all very good at what they do and are all so supportive of each other. The Olympic athletes show the same teamwork Kanyul students do!

Best of luck to all the Kanyul legends over the next fortnight in their sporting events and other special activities inside and outside of school hours.

Have a great weekend all!

A reminder that students can wear their house iron on patches on their school polos. These can be ironed onto students' polos, underneath the Ceres logo. It's great to see some students already wearing theirs!
