Mindful Monsters – Bubble Breathing Benson

The Mindful Monsters Program is a Mindfulness program which uses memorable monster characters to help us learn portable techniques for calming the body and focusing the mind. 

 

This week’s Mindful Monster is Bubble Breathing Benson. 

Benson takes a moment to examine his feelings and identify any emotions or sensations that are stopping him from being present, centred and grounded. Benson names those emotions or sensations. He then uses his breath and his imagination to blow those feelings away. 

Benson takes a deep breath in, while imagining he is blowing up an enormous bubble containing the unsettling feelings or sensations. As he exhales through his mouth, he blows the bubble far away from himself, and blows away the unsettling feelings. Benson then examines his feelings again and observes any other lingering unsettled emotions or sensations. He blows up as many bubbles as he needs to achieve a more grounded state.
