Year 1 & 2

Over the past two weeks, we have introduced the students to their Chromebooks. We have discussed expectations and how to look after our devices. We are using Google Classroom to introduce reading activities and maths games. Our favourite activities are learning about dinosaur facts on Epic.

In Writing lessons, students have been practising their sentence building skills. They have been writing recounts about the weekend and attending the smoking ceremony in Assembly. For grammar lessons, students have been learning about what makes a complete sentence.

We have been studying different picture books about summer in Australia, the beach, and the Great Barrier Reef. Have a look at 1A’s sandcastle display in the corridor! We have also decorated and made crabs.

During our Maths lessons, we have been practising skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s, by finding the patterns in hundreds charts and by counting as a whole class. We have been using tens frames, unfix and icypole sticks to show numbers in different ways.

In Integrated Studies lessons, students have been exploring the map of Australia, finding our city and state that we live in. Students have also been learning about how to stay safe online for Safer Internet Day.

Students are nominated by their teachers to receive a certificate of acknowledgment. The below student's certificates will be presented at our next assembly.
