Welcome and overall learning summary

The Level Six team warmly welcomes all GWPS families, both new and returning, to what promises to be another fantastic year of learning. It has been wonderful to reconnect with familiar faces and meet the new families joining our community. As a team, we are honoured to guide and support your child through their final year of primary school. Year Six brings a range of unique experiences and challenges, offering opportunities to pursue passions, foster creativity, develop leadership skills, participate in exciting events, and celebrate achievements together.

This year, our highly capable Level Six team consists of six team members. Five of our team members are existing GWPS teaching staff, who may have already worked with your child in some capacity across the school. Mr Dante Sciessere (Teaching and Learning Leader) is teaching 6A. Mr Robert Lou (Assistant Teaching and Learning Leader) is teaching 6B. Mrs Kylie Bailey (Data Literacy Leading Teacher) is teaching 6C. Ms Rebecca Parish and Mr Jonathon Pereira, who are teaching 6E and 6F. We would like to warmly welcome Ms Kristy Chua (6D) to our school and team. Collectively, the Level Six team will bring many years of teaching experience, passion and knowledge towards educating our students. Please read below for a more detailed introduction of each team member.

Meet the Team...

Meet Mr Sciessere (6A)

Hi everyone, I’m the Level Six Teaching and Learning Leader, and this is my third year at Glen Waverley Primary School. I’ve loved teaching and growing alongside our Level Four learners up to this year. My favourite subjects to teach are Mathematics and The Resilience Project.

Here’s a little more about me:

  • I’ve travelled to 14 countries outside of Australia.
  • I have a real love for making coffee—there’s nothing like a good brew!
  • I’m very keen on sports. I play football, and I’m also a big fan of Formula One, basketball, and football.

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me spending time with my dog Kevin, my nephews Beau and Kai, or whipping up a delicious coffee or two. I’m really looking forward to getting to know all of you and the wider community as the year progresses!

Meet Mr Lou (6B)

Hi everyone, my name is Robert Lou and I have the pleasure of teaching 6B. 2025 will be my seventh year as a primary school teacher and my seventh year as a part of the Glen Waverley Primary School family. I am looking forward to this another wonderful year in Level Six, especially since I have taught many of the students when they were in Year One in 2020. So far, I can already tell that 6B are a very enthusiastic, passionate and energetic group. As an educator, I love mathematics, science and digital technology, as they were my areas of interest when I was in school. Outside of school, I like to spend my time cooking, socialising with friends, playing video games, watching anime, and collecting Magic the Gathering trading cards. If your child has any interest in these areas, please encourage them to have a conversation with me! If you see me around the school grounds, feel free to come and say hello!

Meet Mrs Bailey (6C)

Hi wonderful Level 6 Families! My name is Mrs Kylie Bailey, and I have the absolute pleasure of teaching 6C this year. I first began teaching here at Glen Waverley Primary School in 2011 and have enjoyed teaching in numerous roles throughout the school during that time. My house is very full; with my husband, two beautiful girls (Alannah and Maddison), who are in Year 2 and Grade 5, four gorgeous bunnies (Moonlight, Lily, Muffin and Marlow), one cockatiel named Crackers, and a dog called Charlie! I love to read, have a brown belt in karate and enjoy experiencing other cultures through meeting new people and travelling to different countries. I really look forward to the coming year and seeing the learners in 6C flourish and succeed as lifelong learners!

Meet Ms Chua (6D)

Hi everyone, my name is Kristy Chua and I am thrilled to be teaching 6D this year. This will be my first year at Glen Waverley Primary School, and I am looking forward to getting to know the school community and working with your children in their final year of primary school. Outside the classroom, I enjoy exploring new cafes and restaurants, indulging in a variety of cuisines, playing badminton and spending time with my friends and family. I look forward to building strong connections with both students and families this year and creating a positive learning environment. I can’t wait to see all the wonderful things we’ll achieve together in 2025!

Meet Ms Parish (6E)

Hello all! I am Rebecca Parish, and this year I am lucky to be teaching 6E. This is my second year at Glen Waverley Primary School, and I am looking forward to being in the Grade 6 team again. The learners have already shown their passion and interests, and I am delighted to be working with this group in their final year of primary school. We have all sorts of exciting learning and experiences to look forward to, such as interschool sport, camp and production. Outside of school I enjoy camping, hiking, baking, making crafts and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to meeting you and working together to support your child.

Meet Mr Pereira (6F)

Hello, Year 6 Families! My name is Jonathon Pereira and this year I will have the pleasure of teaching 6F. I will be going into my sixth year of teaching, with this being my second year at Glen Waverley Primary School. I look forward to introducing myself to you all throughout the year. It’s been wonderful getting to know all the students in 6F and it makes me excited for the experiences we are going to share in 2025. As an educator, I am big believer in building on students’ strengths and interests to best support their own learning journeys. Outside of the school yard, you will most likely see me at my local gym, riding around Melbourne on one of my bikes or parked outside a cafe consuming coffee until my heart’s content. If you see me around GWPS please feel free to come say g’day!

In addition to our teaching team, in the classroom we will be supported by the incredibly experienced Targeted Student Learning (TSL) teachers, and our dedicated Education Support team. The Level Six team looks forward to connecting with families during our various school events. Our upcoming ‘Getting to Know You Interviews’ will help form a critical part of the Home/School Partnership and set your child up for success.  Please keep your eye on Compass for any notices or information regarding the interviews. As always throughout the year, we encourage you to contact us if you have any queries regarding your child’s learning or wellbeing.   We are looking forward to a successful year ahead.
