From the Year 3 Classroom

The Year Three students and teachers have had a great first two weeks getting to know each other and are establishing a smooth routine, adapting to the changes & expectation of Year Three.
With the roll out of Magnify we are all learning together the new way our curriculum is being delivered.
In English we are doing a text study and reading 'Matilda,' by Roald Dahl, which we are all enjoying. For writing we are beginning to plan and write our own narratives with a focus this week on how to write a 'Sizzling Start.'
Our Maths focus to begin the year is on place value, working our way to understanding place value, with some students looking at six-digit numbers.
Our Inquiry unit for Term One is 'Magnificent, Marvellous, ME!' This unit focus' on many aspects of health including; diet, exercise, metal health, hygiene, sleep, screen time, etc.
Our initial RE unit is on Prayer which is a focus across the whole school.
The Students in Year Three have been enjoying the swimming program, which has been a blessing on the hot days. Please note we have a tub, in the Year Three space, containing lost property from the swimming program. If your child is missing items of clothing, feel free to pop in and have a look.
Just a reminder that students are expected to read a minimum of 60 minutes per week and return their diary, signed, each Friday.
Finally, please note the 'Meet & Greet," is no longer on February 19th as me mentioned on our note at the beginning of the year. Please save the date of Tuesday 4th March(Shrove Tuesday) for our annual Meet and Greet Morning. Starting at 7:30am and concluding at 9:00am, parents and family members will be provided with pancakes (it’s Pancake Tuesday) and a BBQ breakfast.
