NAPLAN 2025

This week, parents and carers of our Year 3 and 5 students should have received a message from our Principal about NAPLAN.

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a series of literacy and numeracy assessments that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year.

All students in Year 3 and Year 5 will complete the four assessments: Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy.

NAPLAN is just one aspect of our school’s assessment and reporting process. It does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students’ educational progress.

NAPLAN also provides schools, education authorities and governments with information about how education programs are working and whether young Australians are achieving important educational outcomes in literacy and numeracy.

The following days and times have been allocated to St Peter's for NAPLAN to be administered. All assessments, except for Year 3 Writing, will be completed online.

Writing: Wednesday 12 March at 9:30 am

Reading: Thursday 13 March at 9:30 am

Conventions of Language: Monday 17 March at 9:30 am

Numeracy: Tuesday 18 March at 9:30 am

An information fact sheet about the annual NAPLAN assessments has been attached below.

Parents, please rest assured that all students will be well prepared for these assessments, from academic knowledge to having a range of problem-solving and time-management strategies.

At home, you can support your child in preparing for NAPLAN by ensuring they are eating nutritious meals, getting lots of sleep, and, of course, providing them with reassurance and love. Most of all, let them know you’re proud of them—because they are learning and growing every day!

If you have any questions or concerns about your child's participation in NAPLAN, please contact myself or your child's classroom teacher.
