Lakeside Students RISE Up
Lakeside Students RISE Up
As part of our endeavours to acknowledge and highlight positive behaviour, we present RISE Awards at Flag Assembly each Monday. RISE is an acronym for Resilience, Integrity, Service and Empathy. Each teacher identifies one student who has made a concerted effort to display the attribute of the week. This might be someone who exemplifies it readily, or it might be given to someone who has worked hard to really improve themselves in that area. These are our key character traits for the Primary School which help to reinforce our school behaviour expectations.
R - Resilience
I - Integrity
S - Service
E - Empathy
Parents are welcome to attend our Flag Assemblies, held on the Primary basketball court.
It is my great pleasure to announce that the following children recently received awards:
Samarveer P, Liam C, Samara S, Chloé H, Mia B, Ira K, Summer H, Mahya H, Jed R, Angel V, Youssef B, Siddharth B and Elijah D

Pastoral Care Interviews - Wednesday, February 26th
Lakeside College invites all parents to participate in our upcoming Pastoral Care Interviews. These valuable conversations provide an opportunity for parents and teachers to connect and share insights about your child beyond academic performance.
During these meetings, we'll discuss:
Your child's interests and passions
Important information that helps us better support your child
Ways to strengthen our partnership in supporting their growth
Please note:
This is a student-free day
Interview times can be booked through Parent Lounge
These are not academic progress interviews, but rather focused on pastoral care and building understanding
We encourage all families to participate in these conversations as they help us create a more supportive and nurturing environment for your child. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Prep Blessing Service
The Year 6 students had the honour of presenting gifts to their buddies at the Prep Blessing Service. Chaplain Fiona led us in worship and Mr Tassoni was there to bless the Preps for their years of schooling ahead. The students received a Bible, prayer cross and certificate to commemorate the start of their school life.
Welcome Preps to school and a special welcome to new families joining our community at Lakeside College.
Primary Parent Parent Information Sessions
On Tuesday evening 18th Feb, class teachers conducted sessions for parents to attend and learn about what’s in store for the year. General school expectations were shared and the teachers highlighted some of the key events to expect over year in their year level. It was also a great opportunity to share about the teaching and learning program within the year.
Thanks to the teachers for their hard work in preparing their sessions and stepping out of their comfort zone of teaching children into presenting to adults! Thanks to all the families who were able to attend. We really appreciate your interest in your child’s learning and taking the opportunity to connect with the school.
This year was the first time we have tried this format which we hope gave parents more opportunity to attend different sessions and meet the class teacher. Our next opportunity to meet is at Pastoral Care interviews next week which staff are preparing for.

Celebrate Harmony Day with Us - March 21st!
On Friday, March 21st, we're coming together to celebrate Harmony Day, and we invite everyone to wear a splash of orange in support of cultural diversity, respect, and inclusion. This year, we're exploring the powerful theme "we all have a role to play" - recognising that each of us contributes to making our community a welcoming place for all.
We are thrilled to announce that the dynamic performance group ZimboyZ will be joining us for a special incursion that promises to bring this message to life through music, dance, and storytelling. Their energetic, acrobatic presentation will help us explore and celebrate the many ways we can create harmony in our daily lives, both in and outside the classroom.
Stay tuned for more exciting details about our Harmony Day activities and the ZimboyZ performance. Don't forget to wear orange on March 21st as we celebrate our diverse and vibrant community!
Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS)
Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS) serves as the overseas aid and development agency of the Lutheran Church of Australia and New Zealand. Through this vital organization, Lutheran communities across Australia and New Zealand have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of those facing hardship through poverty, injustice, and crisis. ALWS works hand-in-hand with communities, supporting them as they build stronger, more sustainable futures for themselves and their families.
We are excited to share that our sister school, Good News Lutheran College in Tarneit, will be hosting a Walk My Way event on March 30th. This inspiring initiative brings communities together to support children's education in regions where access to schooling can be challenging. If you are interested please see the flyer below.
Here at Lakeside College, we've set an ambitious and meaningful goal for 2025: to help 75 children access education through ALWS. With each child's schooling costing $25, we're aiming to raise $1,875 throughout the year. To achieve this target, we will be organising various service activities and fundraising events throughout the year. This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to make a tangible difference in children's lives.
Please stay tuned for updates about our upcoming service activities and how you can contribute to this important cause. Together, we can help create brighter futures for children who might otherwise miss out on the gift of education.
Library Borrowing Now Open!
We are delighted to announce that library borrowing has begun for 2025! Our shelves are stocked with exciting new titles and beloved classics just waiting to be discovered by eager readers.
To keep our books in the best condition possible, we kindly remind all students to bring their library bags when borrowing. These bags help protect books during transport between school and home, ensuring they stay in great shape for everyone to enjoy.
Get ready for some friendly competition! We've introduced an eye-catching pictograph display in the library that tracks book borrowing throughout the year. Watch as our reading community's progress grows week by week. Which class will emerge as our most enthusiastic readers? The pictograph will tell the tale!
Happy reading, everyone!
