Independence Centre

Highlight
Selamat sore Independence Centre families!
What a fun week we have had in the Independence Centre. Students have participated in our Cyber Safety Incursion learning all about how to stay safe online. Ask your child if they remember the 3 P's of online interactions (Personal, Private and Public).
We are also celebrating the incredible responsibility our students have shown using their iPads as they began investigating topics for Guided Inquiry this term. Students are looking at Geography and can choose to explore areas such as Native and Introduced Animals, History of our Land, Landmarks and Landscapes, Habitats and Biomes and Natural Disasters. After exploring all topics, student will choose one to explore more deeply.
Have a wonderful week,
Kathy, Ros, Julia, Mandy, Fatima and Suzie.
Reminders
- Hats - Students must have a hat to play in the yard at recess and lunch. If they do not have a hat, they must stay in the shade area in the courtyard.
- Acceptable User Agreements are due back ASAP in order for student to use their iPads in the classroom.
- I.C.E. Preferences come out this Friday afternoon. Student must choose their top 5 preferences in the Google Form on Google Classroom with family. This will be used to make I.C.E. groups beginning in a few weeks.
- Tissues - If your child could please bring a box of tissues to their classroom, we store these for use in the classroom throughout the year.
NAPLAN 2025
In preparation for the upcoming NAPLAN assessments in March, students in Years 3 and 5 will participate in a practice test on Wednesday, 19 February 2025. This test is designed to familiarise students with the platform and conduct a school-wide Technical Readiness Check. Please note that academic data from the practice test will not be collected for assessment purposes. To ensure a smooth experience, all students in Years 3 and 5 must have the NAP Locked Down Browser App installed and updated to Version 5.8.23. Please check your child’s device and update the app before the test.
- Sun safe hats need to be worn during Lunch and Recess
