Senior Swimming Carnival
It was fantastic to see our Year 3–6 students participating in the school swimming carnival today, with lots of excitement and energy in the pool and on the sidelines.
The focus of all our sporting activities is on students having fun and achieving their personal best, and it was great to see everyone giving their best effort. Our House captains proudly led house chants.
A big congratulations to all the participants for their hard work and sportsmanship, and special congratulations to those students who will represent our school in the District swimming carnival in the coming weeks.
We also want to thank Eryn Muir for the amazing job organising the event, as well as the staff and parents who helped on the day. Well done to all!

Pleasant Snacks
Pleasant Snacks is the student managed shop that operates on a Friday at lunch time. This year, it will begin on 21st February! The new Year 5 managers were selected from a large number of applications and we commend the students on their efforts. The Pleasant Snacks Managers for 2025 are Elspeth, Emma P, Harriet and Arya. The quality of applications was extremely impressive, and all applicants will have an opportunity to support the leaders throughout the year. Leaders will be presented with their badges on the 17th February.
The snacks are generally yellow light foods and are individually wrapped to avoid food handling challenges.
Next Monday we will present the SRC representatives from each class and Pleasant Snacks managers with their badges.
Secondary School 2026 Transition
School tour details can be found online and are an excellent way to learn more about a prospective school. School Tours are now occurring weekly at many High Schools.
A timeline for High School Transition applications can be found below. It is important to note that the transition process and the dates outlined are determined by the Department of Education and not by Mount Pleasant Road Primary School. All government Primary Schools in Victoria follow the same processes and timelines.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s classroom teacher or Louise Naismith (Enrolments Officer)

What is ICE?
This exciting program offers students from Years 3 to 6 a range of activities that extends the students’ learning and furthers their knowledge and skills in new or existing areas of interest and passion. All students have had the opportunity to contribute ideas for activities through their Student Representative Council and we aim to cater for many of the most popular suggestions.
Thanks to our talented staff, willing family members and community volunteers some of the wide range of activities that have been offered have been woodwork, cooking, crafts such as quilting, applique, hama beads, friendship bands, knitting, photography, gardening, book club, flight, comic drawing, painting, song and Auslan, drama and writing, yoga, pottery, recycled art, henna designs, chess, rock band, egyptology, pinata, pattern making and soft toys.
Student preferences will go out today.
In preparation for the upcoming NAPLAN Practise Test next week and formal Assessments in Week 7 and 8, please ensure that your child/ren in Years 3 and 5 have downloaded or updated the NAP Locked Down Browser 2025 from the App Store. If it is already on your child's iPad, please ensure that it is the most updated version (Version 5.8.23) with the 2025 logo shown below.
In addition to this, we ask that all students have a set of headphones (and if they wish a keyboard) at school as they will need to use these for many of the NAPLAN assessments.
Thank you so much for your support in helping to make this process smooth. If you have any questions, please message your child’s classroom teacher via Compass.
Late Arrival to school
Any student arriving late to school must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Upon arrival, the parent or guardian should sign the student in using the Compass app available on the tablet at the front office. This ensures that the student's late arrival is properly documented, and they are cleared to join their classes for the day. The process helps maintain safety and accountability for all students throughout the school day.
Bazaar
Exciting plans are underway for the highly anticipated return of the MPRPS School Bazaar! Parent, Luke Neilson is incredibly motivated to get the event up and running and is seeking support from parents to make it a success. If you're passionate about contributing to the school community and helping bring this event to life, your involvement would be greatly appreciated.
A meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 26th at 6:00 PM in the school hall to discuss plans and share ideas.
We’re looking forward to coming together as a school community to create an unforgettable event, and we’d love for you to be a part of it!
