Market Day
On Thursday May 22nd, the Year 11 VCE and VCE VM students held our schools market day in the courtyard. We had many stalls ranging from games and food including ones such as ice cream bar, cookies, waffles, chocolate toss and a sausage sizzle. Parents, students and teachers were all welcomed by the band to come and purchase on the day. Everyone was excited to showcase their hard work done throughout the term. Each group worked together using a budget and a business plan to bring their stalls together. Students spent time making their products before the day ready to set up and begin selling. There were long lines and music playing the vibes were good all around. There was encouragement from all teams to bring in customers and everyone worked together to make it a great day. All profits made on the day were donated to our chosen charity, which was to an orphanage in Sri Lanka, over $1000 was donated. Overall, it was a perfect day for this and we can’t wait to see what next year brings.

Market Day
On Thursday May 22nd, we took part in Market Day. We ran a stall that sold waffles with different flavours like Nutella and strawberries, Biscoff and cinnamon. We were raising money for a charity called Kathleen Keegal's Children's Fund (KKCF), which was chosen by the Year 11 students.
It was a really fun day and it was great to see the whole school come together.
Everyone was walking around, checking out the different stalls and buying cool stuff. Some parents came before lunch to buy things too and they asked a few questions about what we were doing.

Year 11 VCE VM Industry Visit
On Tuesday May 13th, we visited Coca Cola. It was an amazing experience to be able to see what they do. We saw how all their products are produced. We got to see the design of the factory through a VR headset. We also got a free soft drink.
Next we went to Zenith Interiors where we got to look at a range of furniture they make and speak to some of the people who design and build the furniture. There were lots of different jobs all working in the one place. It was interesting to see.

Year 12 VCE VM Students Take on Frankston’s Self-Guided Art Tour
Our Year 12 VCE VM students recently stepped out of the classroom and into the vibrant laneways of Frankston for a self-guided street art walking tour—an engaging and hands-on experience that brought their learning in Personal Development Skills (PDS) Unit 3 to life.
As part of their “Melbourne Tours” unit, students took the lead in planning and running the excursion using the Imagine Frankston Street Art Walking Tour map and resources. The excursion was more than just a walk—it was a deep dive into social awareness, leadership and teamwork.
From large-scale murals to hidden gems tucked away in alleyways, students explored over 20 works by renowned street artists. They shared insights about the messages behind the artworks, the artists’ backgrounds and how public art contributes to Frankston’s identity and community pride.
This excursion directly supported outcomes in their PDS curriculum:
- Social and self-awareness were developed through reflections on cultural expression and public space.
- Leadership and teamwork were shown as students took on roles such as navigators, timekeepers and presenters.
- Problem-solving and planning skills came into play as the group navigated their way through the tour independently.
Students came away with a greater appreciation of how art can tell stories, represent diverse voices and bring people together—key elements of building a connected and respectful community.
Well done to all students for their enthusiasm, cooperation and insight throughout the day. It was a powerful reminder that some of the best learning happens when we step outside and see the world through a different lens.

Year 12 VCE VM “Know Your Rights at Work” Excursion
Our Year 12 VCE VM students recently took part in an eye-opening and empowering excursion hosted by the Young Workers Centre, at the Trades Hall Council in the City. The 2-hour presentation and tour, titled “Know Your Rights at Work,” focused on educating young people about their workplace rights, responsibilities and safety.
As students begin their journeys into part-time jobs, apprenticeships, or full-time work, understanding their rights is crucial. The session covered a wide range of essential topics, including:
- Legal workplace entitlements and protections
- Health and safety standards on the job
- How to identify and respond to bullying, harassment and discrimination
- The role of unions and industrial relations in supporting workers
- Real-life examples of how to speak up and seek help when things go wrong
This excursion aligned directly with the Unit 3 Work Related Skills (WRS) curriculum, particularly the focus on industrial relations, workplace responsibilities and safe working environments. Through engaging discussion, videos and case studies, students gained a clearer understanding of how to protect themselves and others in the workplace.
The Young Workers Centre is dedicated to helping young people feel safe, informed and respected at work—and this session certainly delivered on that mission.
We’re proud of our VCE VM students for taking this important step toward becoming not just job-ready, but rights-ready.
