College Sports Wrap-up: Term I and II

It’s been a fast-paced and exciting time in the college sporting calendar as we wrapped up Term I sport and launched straight into Term II with gala days, representative achievements, and exceptional external sporting success.

Term I featured the College Cross Country Carnival, held at the picturesque Don Lucas Reserve on the second last day of term. With clear skies and sweeping ocean views, students enjoyed a fantastic day of competition and camaraderie. Congratulations to all our runners and a special shout-out to our Age Champions who demonstrated outstanding endurance and school spirit.

A major highlight came from our Open Boys Touch Football Team, who claimed the Conference Championship title with grit and determination. Their momentum carried into the Sydney Championships, where they fought hard and proudly secured 3rd place. A huge thank you goes to Mr Forward for his dedication and leadership throughout the term.

We also acknowledge the ongoing success of Solomon Freeman, whose impressive performances across school and club swimming events have earned him a place at the upcoming NSW All Schools Championships, alongside Beau Griggs. Our congratulations also go to the Open Boys 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay TeamZayne Pisani, Billy Rose, Cooper Penman, and Solomon Freeman—who broke the school record at the NSWCCC, clocking an incredible 1:42.26.

In touch football, Giselle Barlow, Zayne Pisani, Billy Rose and Cooper Penman were standouts, all selected for their SCS Touch Team, with Zayne going one step further by earning selection in the NSWCCC Touch Team.

On the rugby league field, congratulations are extended to Daniel Green, Xavier Dinuccio, and Annaliese De Gioia for their selection into their respective Sydney Rugby League Teams.

We also proudly acknowledge Matilda Fanning, who not only captained the NSW U17 Netball Team but was also selected for the Australian U17 Netball Team—a tremendous achievement!

Our surf life savers shone on the national stage with Dane Sutton, Otis Jessop, Harry Payne, and Amelia Dann all winning medals at the Australian Surf Life Saving Titles. Special mention goes to Dane, who claimed the prestigious U17 Australian Ironman Title.

In Basketball, our Open Boys Team dominated the Shire Shield Basketball Tournament, going undefeated and now progressing to the Sydney Finals where they’ll face both Catholic and state school competitors.

Triathlon talent Lachie Targett continues to impress, picking up two major victories during the holidays in Tamworth and Byron Bay.

Looking ahead, Term II promises even more sporting excitement with the College fielding teams in Open and U13 Rugby LeagueOpen and Junior Football (Soccer), and Junior and Senior Girls Netball. We wish all our teams the very best as they compete week in and week out.
